    Arrow newborn:after the giants war

hello all ,here is my final entry...
well anyway ,what i could have done until the very last minute...
there's so much more i wanted to do but i will call this final.
"after the giants war" ...Once there were giants walking on this earth, fighting each other........fighting for what? For whom? Nobody knows.......it was such a long time ago, it has all been forgotten in the shadows of time.........now, those almost indestructible shells are the foundations of newborn cities...

ps:this is an edited version of my final entry.
(tweakened the image for best integration with the ground, better perpective and better depth, something i didn't had the time to do before the deadline)

Sure I guess so, anything that is brought into the world could be classed as newborn.

    Define Born: brought into existence

Look forward to seeing it and good luck!

This is looking pretty cool so far. :3 I think the thumb is at the wrong angle but perhaps robots don't follow anatomy rules like people do.

This is comming along well, I like the level of detail you're going for, i'm not very shure about the forest in place of the head though, i know it's still very WIP but it kinda looks odd at the moment, waiting to see more

    hey miycko!
    thanks for stopping by

    can you tell me more?
is that because of the way i've painted it?(not looking like trees)
or is it the whole concept around it that's odd?
(i wanted to show that nature is taking it's part here)

I've got a similar feeling about the forest head -- just not quite right. Maybe because it seems like it should mean something, covering up the face in a way none of the rest of the body is, and I can't figure out what it means? Maybe we need to see more of the face, or maybe the trees need to extend in little peninsulas further into the rest of the robot?

    I'm loving the concept.

    mhh ok then
it was just for me that on the right there's a forest and when the robot felt the trees grew on the place where it stood:the face.
but as it was obvious for me ,i do see now that its not looking right ,so i'll see what i can do...less trees and more of the face...

now, i'm glad you like the idea!
it's just that i have some work to do to make you love the illustration too!

Hiya, I've visited this one quite a lot to have a look and I like the idea a lot.

I agree with the others about the head area and although it is an improvement I think that it could do with a bit more thinking through in terms of why is the vegetation growing where it is? I can see trees growing from within the eyes where seeds might have taken root but I think that the overall body might be more decayed before trees took root. Maybe having a gander at some reference for how nature reclaims built up areas might help. I think there migth be more rust from the complex areas around the knees etc. reference might help here also. I think that personally I might have chosen a more dramatic angle but that's pure personal choice. I know it is still wip but I hope this helps.

I like that the giants have a medieval feel to the design which ties in with the style of architecture and I like the tranquil atomsphere that contrasts with the previous war (colours are good for tranquility). I keep coming back to look at it . . . so I'm enjoying it anyway. Good concept . . . good luck.

    thanks for the reply
mhhh ...about the angle and the trees ,the fact is that i had the vision of both as it is in picture one...didn't thought about it at all until now
and after what people here are saying about that matter...

so ok, now i will make it all more believable...
about the rust ,i could have done that ,but i like the idea of a strange and very long lasting alloy ,so the giants are basically undestroyable and are empty shells now(the insides have turned to dust)so ,that's why people are building cities on those...

anyway i'll see how it turns out with more dirtyness and rust...thanks!

Ok, cool, I wondered about the alloy thing and that makes sense. It would be really interesting if the giants were only 'empty shells' as you say to have larger areas of 'injury' on the outer shell where settlers had built inside as well as outside to take advantage of the shelter you could have spires and towers poking through from buildings inside the body.

This is looking really great. I like your idea, but I think it might help you if you added a dirt and rust pass on the robots. They look very new, and too much like stone. But I think if you added some rust in the hinges and corners it will help a lot. Also, even though the town has sprung up on top of it, I would expect the bots to be a little more overgrown. It goes back to looking too new, like the city just got dropped on top of it. I like the shadows coming from the clouds though, and the depth of your image is pretty good. I'd put in a helipad or something somewhere though, where are those airships landing? And for scale I might put a few cars or specs of people. Speaking of, how do they get down from the town? A cool slide? Some rocky stairs, or another piece of a bot coming out of the ground? Just some things to think about Keep it up!!

    hey thanks for the reply!

my concern now is about the head...i'm looking for the best design, and i can't seem to find the best one.
and i'm also working on the aspect of the metal...

i'll try some rust and projectile holes, but i didnt planned to,it's predictable and the alloy is supposed to be extremely resistant

and of course i plan to build more of the city with little bridges, elevators ,construction sites,so on...there will be also a upper and lower city(rich/poor)

also i wanna keep the medieval/steam technology ,energy comes from the wind and water for exemple ,so no modern stuff...

    there's a lot to do!...

very good progress, i like the rusted version of the armour, it looks more believable that they'd build a city on the giant now, theyre's plenty for you to do, hope you'll finish in time, good luck
