    I like it!
Think a wee highlight on the eyes might make them pop out a bit, but it looks good so far (Specially considering you usually use traditional mediums)

Keep up the good work as alwaaaayyys.

You got the cast shadow on the tubes okay. Digital painting is like traditional, but sort of different. Sounds weird, but what you learn in one, you can take into the other as long as you don't use too many "digital tricks".

    Keep it up! nice work.
A tip would be start off with 3 values. A mid-tone a light and a shadow tone. Define The form so it looks correct and 3 dimensional. After that you can add perhaps 2 more values and it will surely look great. you know, to restrain yourself. Try it and show me how it goes

    Silwynar - thanks a lot
Wr00m - thanks man yeah i need to concentrate on form before details i think
    Roboko - thanks man

some more digital practice - painting of the lamp on my desk. i kinda felt like i was cheating using the soft edged brush for the highlights so i think ill stick with the default hard edged brush

Hey, this sketchbook is looking great. It seems like you really know what you're doing when it comes to your still lifes and studies! And at only 17, wow. I'm in a similar situation, 16 and running out of time to get better for a portfolio, so you're posts are very helpful to me. I would love to see more digital still lifes

hey there!! great stuff you have here, boldly trying everything and just going for it.
those last three posts - the digital works - they're quite impressive for having never done digital before!! the third one definitely looks the most promising, and you're on the right track with the "line sketch first" approach. may i suggest, though, that it's extremely helpful to "build" a portrait on paper first? by building i mean establishing the main shapes, lines, places of shadow and light, proportions, etc. i see you've done skulls, so placing shadows and light should not be a problem, but proportions and general facial feature placement will benefit a lot from a preliminary sketch.
    good luck, i'll be visiting!
my teeth and ambitions are bared - be prepared

Do you believe in this sketchbook?

That last one looks great so far. My only advice at this point is, try to approach your digital drawings and paintings in the same way that you would a traditional piece. The essentials are the same for digital images; you just have a few shortcuts and safety locks at your disposal digitally. Personally, I start with a line sketch then build up 3 layers of value as Wr00m mentioned. Also I've found that it's helpful to get in the habit of drawing the foreground (or main subject) on a new layer above the background so I don't have to rework my edges when I develop the backdrop.

i completely screwed up that self portrait by saving the psd in the resolution i posted the jpeg on here, so like 500 wide. made it very hard to paint

i guess it looks alright, if a bit dull

At this rate your PF will WoW the people lol Nothing really to add, cause I assume you know what your doing . I've been saying this a lot today, are you doing a lot of cubes? they help a lot over all with just about everything. I don't know what your going for but you don't seem to have that many poses or gestures or anything like that. lol I don't know where i was going with that but anyways keep going!

Hey raffix, the digi stuff is getting better all the time. Looks like your traditional knowledge is translating nicely. Maybe set up a nice lighting situation and do a color self p. Also, after you make a basic lay-in below the line drawing, paint on a layer above the lines to work on edges and stuff (which will also get rid of the lines). Keep at it man GO GO GO

On the most recent portrait it seems that the head is pointing to its right while the nose is pointing to its left.
