    Hey there,

great variety of stuff going on here; some of the pen work is very neat, as is the watercolour - great balance and I am loving the striking glasses. You are really progressing and that is very important, so keep going,

    Best wishes,

Jansi - hi thanks for checking out my sketchbook, i will definitely keep goiing! posted in your sb.

this was just a little sketch while my mum was watching some shitty marilyn manroe film but i kinda like it. ball point pen, 30 mins.

Eric-Anthony, Yeti Ball, Falchion: Thanks a lot guys, really appreciate the encouragement (:

These two pages are definitely vital studies that the world needs to see. They are not in any way just an excuse to reply... (:

I like the self portrait - nice colours. With that and your mother's portrait, mind the position of the eyes' they seem to be drifting apart.

    Hello hello!
I've noticed you're working harder to render people's faces (I should stop trying to use art terminoligy because I've probably said something completely different to my intentions) Her face seems to pop out! Really good that and oddly enough the nose is my favourate part of it.

You remind me cross hatching is a really fun way to shade, I don't know why I don't do it more often myself.

Also, see you've posted more anatomy studies, always good.
    Keep up the good work!

Hey raffix, the watercolors are nice! Definitely finish that self p at the top of the page. It looks promising, especially with the color shifts and mixed media thing you got going on. And even if you don't like how its turning out you can always go over the wc parts with acrylic or gouache.

again very small update. want to get into acrylics then possibly digital so ill be doing some value studies over the next few weeks

Black Spot - thanks for a very helpful crit - i couldnt work out why the face looked so off but it is indeed the eye on the right drifting too far. more bridgman/loomis studies i hope will help fix this.

Naidy - hahah actually lold at that first bit (:

Eddieee - thanks man i think ill try out some gouache soon. ill pop in to your sb in a sec.

Hey dude, very nice and inspirational sketchbook, not much to comment here, maybe on your last SP, it could use a bit more darks on the shadow side, but I guess you'll get there, since it's a wip...

Anyways, keep up the great work.. we want to see MOAR!

I like how you're using different mediums and doing lots of anatomy studies, it's bound to help you improve quickly.

All I can suggest is to keep on doing these studies, maybe some more finished full-body pics would be nice using paint, but that's all I can really suggest. Keep on practising like you are!

Hey Raffix really like your value study on the corrugated cardboard. Very effective and looks good. Who 'nose' what you'll come up with next!

    I'm loving that watercolour, seriously.
Brilliant usage for colours going on and it's coming together quite well(them eyes are looking awesome)!
Can't wait to see it finished, also, be careful not to overwork watercolours.

Amazing update on your watercolors sp! Just a question though.. is it just me or you ear is a bit lower then it should be? It just looks a bit out of place to me.. but maybe it's just me...

Can't wait to see this one finished!

Lovely, lovely work on your watercolour! Watercolour makes me want to bash my head into a wall. I go too fast and mush it all up. There's not too much you can do about it at this point, but your eyes aren't quite level. I also agree the ear doesn't quite look placed right. Last tiny crit is to watch the values around your jaw- they're fading into each other right now.

Anywho, keep at those studies and you're off to the races!

Really great stuff you have going in here! I have to say I'm impressed by your diligence and skill. I'm kind of excited that you're doing grey scale acrylic studies because that's primarily how I paint.

Keep up the good work! You're on the right track

NickTrip - thanks a lot dude
Black Spot - cheers, its becoming a bit green ):

ive been doing some value studies from life this weekend which i know are very flawed but i think they'll be good learning tools

i really struggled to read the values of the cast shadows so if anyone has any tips/links to help that would be great

smaller versions because i think the form is more readable when i stand far away from them
