Hey dude, great start so far! The 2nd and 3rd drawings have a great sense of form. In the last one, the painting, the eyes are uneven causing the face to be unsymmetrical, so that's something to watch out for in the future. Just up the good work! ^^

but still amazingly good for a 15 year old, there are some other kids around here ( Miles, and others but ive forgot their names) check em out
I'd wish I discovered CA when I was your age. If you keep it up you'll be a good artist when your 21 or so

I am going up to London each day for the next two weeks, so hope to get lots of life drawing done from unsuspecting sleeping people! mwhahaha.
In the meanwhile, this is a copy of captain america, a drawing of my foot and a pen drawing of (some of) a face, with ref. used.

Don't do what I did when I was growing after 15 and draw less. Draw more! (Although it gets tough when life gets busy, just keep finding the time to draw!)
Really, I think if you keep up your current attitude and you keep drawing, you'll be phenomenal in years time. I like how you're doing studies of yourself, and you plan on drawing from real life as studies. That'll really help.

hmmm...fewer people seem to fall asleep on trains than i expected
Well, first is my only on-the-train drawing (don't like it very much), second is a pen portrait done without a ref (minus 5 points for drawing on lined paper) and third is a quick biro doodle (minus 5 points for drawing on envelopes).

Havn't put nearly as much stuff as I would have liked to in here, so hopefully this is the start of much more stuff.
This was one third of my entry to this week's chow (NPC design). didn't finish in time for the deadline, but here's what I got done for one of my npcs ( a crusadery type) and i'll try to finish it, along with the other three. this is my first ever digital picture, so be nice XD

Well I have finally started drawing more, and here are three drawings from my class title: 'viewpoints'.

*had to use my camera for these as school s/book is too large for scanner*

Well, first is a self-portait with my feet nearest the mirror (i look really grumpy cuz i'd been sitting with my back straight on that table for 25 mins),

Second is a drawing of my legs/feet on a ladder (everyone seems to be confused by the viewpoint: I was sitting in an attic hatch with my feet on the ladder rung)

And third is a quick fineliner portait of a friend (who also happened to be drawing).

Any suggestions/tips/hints/corrections/critiques are very welcome!!!

P.S. if anyone has any bright ideas on an interesting take on 'viewpoints' as a topic title then i would love to hear them

Man, 16 years old and your self portraits are looking neat. Like mentioned above. dont leave school and stop drawing like many of us. Keep this going. You have got what you need. Just keep at it Nice one

Your portraits are looking swell! I'm especially jealous of the way you draw noses. But try to shake things up; don't stick to doing front on and 3/4 views of the faces. Study some Loomis and try so really crazy angles.

It's awesome that you joined at your age. I joined this website when I was 15 as well (17 now). Learned so much over these 2 years. Look up Miles definitely, huge inspiration to anyone any age; others are Dile (I believe he's 17?) and lilnebo (14). [propaganda]And maybe me [/propaganda]

I love all the young artists on here, fun to look through their stuff. I'll be watching this thread.

Alucid - thanks a lot man, i hope i have the perseveance to keep going! i'll try some of tose 'bridgman' studies in your great s/book, they look really helpful (not that i know who/what bridgman is but i'll find out!)

well i havn't done as much stuff lately as i'd have like, but thought i'd stick up this study of a lucian freud etching ("lord goodman in his yellow pyjamas") just to keep the s/book ticking over.

you've got a good eye for proportions/anatomy, but i think you should try and get yourself into a life drawing class if you can. i think you KIND OF know whats going on under the skin, so you're CLOSE with your anatomy, but with a little more study i think you'd be right on. you're very good at drawing what you see on the surface, and i think if you know what was going on underneath a little better you'd explode!
and i say fuck it, go for the digital stuff. if you start now at the age you are now, you'll be awesome by the time you're out of school and looking for work. just do a lot of tutorials. there are TONS of great techniques out there to use. study, practice, and kill it.

Well, i have finally got into a life drawing class, so expect lots of figure drawings over the next few weeks

I'll be doing a couple of 2 minute poses, a 20 min pose and a 45 minute pose each week

This was my very first week, so not that great, but I am still happy with them and especially the long pose (although i would have liked more time to add more tone).

SO: - 2 min pose in oil pastel (was pretty happy with these)
- 5 min pose in fineliner
- 20 min pose in pencil with chalk and charcoal (don't like this one so much)
- and a 35 min pose in pencil.....

Today we had a male model, and i am usually slightly better at drawing men:

- three 2 min poses (was really pleased with these)
- one 35 min pose (was pleased, but would have liked more time to add tone)

The third week wasn't particularly great - didn't get a long pose in. Oh well - here's what I did get done:

- two 2 min poses, i was actually very pleased with how these turned out (charcoal).
- a 10 min pose using two oil pastels.

If you open up an anatomy book or two and study where all the muscles and bones go, you'll have it easier figuring out the harder bits of a figure pose. That said, you already have a good eye and a good sense of form, not to mention lots of confidence in your linework, certainly for a 16-year-old. So i can see your art going nice place in the not too distant future.

Pretty darn good for being 16. You started off better than I did, you're on the right road!
Keep it up.

Words of advice: try to keep you shading less messy. Let the pencil strokes follow the form instead of putting them all over the place.

Havn't got anything much to add yet (though I do have another figure drawing class tomorrow evening), so I just thought i'd post the process i'm taking for a part of my school project i'm doing on etching.

This isn't real etching (with acid and wax and the whole shabang), but i'm practicing with perspex and printing ink...

So, first is the initial perspex plate, and second is the first print i made from it. Quite pleased

Didn't have the best life drawing session today, didn't really get into it, but i thought i'd put my long pose up here just o keep the sketchbook moving.

again i kinda ran out of time on this one, spent too long on construction, not enough shading/tone. the model was also further away than i'd have liked for portraiture. oh well.
