A-Z???? with Slueth Arvy (Nudity?) (Update: Recently)

Hey, everyone well this is my first and probably only sketchbook. I'm a local artist from NC. I hope to meet other artists or interact with them. So, I got to admit this is going to be a fun experience. I hope this to be a big step in my art endeavors. Here are some of my works. I really don't know what else to say. So I'll let my art talk. Any help is welcomed.

Most of these drawings come from a event I went to and I drew portrairts.

Hello!

I think you definitely have potential.

I would take a step back and begin with some basics. Study some gesture and shapes to make up the body.

There is a great art book thread on here ... I'll have to find it and link it later for you. But it has great tutorial books (Loomis / Bridgman are like foundational). Life studies are paramount as well, start loooking at everything around you and learn to break it into shapes and things.

This is just quick toss out of stuff

Actually I possess those books. I just need to start my studies over again with the drawing on the right side of the brain book I believe. Well I finally finished another drawing of mines. I hope this render is better. I actually stopped jesters for a while. I should get back into them. I enjoyed them.

Hey now! Great find on that reference shots!

I would say that the face might need a bit of a clean up on this one, but you've gotten the rest of the body pretty close. I would just suggest to work on the ankle / lower leg area.
You even grabbed the foreshortening of the arms pretty well

One way to really see where you should start focusing on is, when you scan / photo the picture you're working with, open them next to each other. It really does help so you can see which areas to be careful when starting again next time

Here are some sketches I just did for fun. I got a little better, but it looks strange. The rain looks kinda off and when I go by memory I guess it looks like anime.. But, I'll try to work on my change.

I would suggest seriously looking into Loomis and Bridgman.

Your proportions seem to be off a little bit and your anatomy is equally 'swooshy'

Matte art I thank you so much for the lesson you gave me today. I'm just embarrassed at my results... I also realize how good regular pencils are over mechanical. I think when I get nervous with drawing I speed up...

it takes alot of practice to get things right. drawing from life helps more, its easier for certain people tho. drawing still life and honing shading and simplifying ur lines will help too... AANND keep drawing

I'm glad to help. I try to help as much as I can -- sometimes I'm just more useful than other times lol!

Anyway...

This study is miles ahead of the first one on this page.
One thing I would suggest for the moment is to stop getting caught up in the details. Break it down into simplified shapes for now.
The main thing we are trying to get you with here is the fact that everything is broken down into shapes all over the place. Learn those shapes and you should be able to draw just about anything.

Like okay, take a look at this newest, then scroll up and look at the other. If you notice... the nose is a million times more accurate.

As you go, I'll start to teach you things like, the face really only has a couple of solid lines, everything else is just accomplished through shading...

Just remember to have fun with drawing as well... don't make it a chore.

Keep going with these and it will have you great in no time.

Jesus Food: Thanks for the tips. I'll have to try and get a hold of it. Even though simplifying of lines sounds simple. I think I'll have to beat my habit to get to it.

Matte Art: I can see what you mean now. I didn't leave or space correctly as with the guide.The shapes and shading thing might haunt me a bit. But I think I can learn them.
Yeah I'll try to squeeze in some fun drawings in every once in a while to keep me cool.

This comes from 30 minute gesture with my friend Matteart. I don't like my gestures some or most of the time. So I usually don't post them and the fact my sketchbook is so big I have to take pictures...

Thanks for checking out my thread...I looked through your material. Looks like you are getting a good start. Hey like you I am always needed to push my figure stuff. Looks like you are getting some good advice. You like I always need to think of the underlying form. Draw some figures in action type poses with shapes, lines, etc. Sort of like on these links...

Those should be some good starts for some of this. I tend to sometimes get lazy with my figure drawing and need to always go back to these types of things. Good luck and keep pushing yourself!

Thanks for checking out my thread as well. I wish I could be more of help. But as I get better the more my eyes open. So hopefully I can catch up with you. The links are helpful I'll save them for farther help. I'll try to remember the underlying figure as I go through this.

I don't want to be to stiff. So I'll try to mix in some action figure poses. Again, thanks for taking the time to help me. I'll try to see what I can do next time around.

i can see you are really putting in effort into your studies so keep at it the only thing i could say is, try to sketch with smoother lines. i can see that you repeat the pencil lines over one another wich gives the sketch a rough, not so smooth feel. maybe you could do a practise of making simple sketches using as few lines as possible? i hope you were able to understand what i was trying to explain? i am not so good with words.

Hmm.. I understand what you mean now. I guess my lines aren't the best when it comes to curves and etc. So I have to repeat myself. I'll try to pratice the techinique you suggested and thank you.

Hey it looks like you are into Animae somewhat. There are some great how to draw Animae books out there. They also show some good basic drawing techniques. I have a few myself. Well continue to draw, draw and draw!

Hiplae- thanks for the compliment. I'm trying to get out of anime somewhat. I think it's holding me back. Thanks for your criticism as well. It was a portrait. I hope it didn't come off as anime though.

I got some new stuff. I think I'm slowing down just a bit. But somehow I'm able to draw somethings better... I'm not sure how that works yet.

I apologize for the weird offset... It looks fine on my pc.

This page is a drastic improvement over the beginning!

Especially the leg on the top right. But you have done very well on this pose.

Keep grabbing poses from all around and try your damndest to copy as well as you can!
