Argh Guys. I have been drawing every day, but I havent had anytime to scan or do anything like that. I took photos some my recent work.
The oil painting is for school.
Oh, and I went to a 2 hour nude model session. First time I went. It was so intimidating and I didnt know where to start! haha. I am also doing a lot of gestures everyday.

Hey man really nice improvements from the first page. The bridgeman studies are working nicely. Your figures are much more dynamic and accurate.

    Keep working!!

way to go dude!!! keep at em, keep going to those 2 hour figure drawing sessions!

As I've been slowly packing away over here, getting ready for my move, I've stumbled upon lots and lots of old stuff, like my old figure drawing pad from when I first started art school and my first sketchbooks. Four years has definitely gotten me good, and really that's the only way I could've done it is by keeping at it.

But of course, some kind of direction would've been nice back then!

Try working with charcoal sticks when working with still life and figure drawings. Use the side of the charcoal and not the tip or edges - this way, you're not using lines but more blocks of shapes. Start seeing figures and objects in the over all forms and shapes and not line art. This will start to show you things in 3d and not 2d things on your paper.

As for paintings, try working with a limited palette - burnt siena, ultramarine blue and white. And that's it, you'll be surprised with how many colors you can get with that one set! Check out Aaron Coberly's post on limited palettes.

Sorry I haven't been around there for you lately, man but you're doing excellent on your own!

    Cheers,
    Angelo

    WIP

Hey guys. Just wanted to drop this one for some CC.

I am working on the full body, but I wanted to know how I am doing so far. I think I might stop so I can draw a bit. I will get back to it tonight.

First real attempt at being patient with a figure haha.

    kyurai: Thanks man! =D
    ALEXANDRE da Vinci: Valeu mesmo!

I went to the nude drawing session. And it am very disappointed with results.. I should just quit drawing and go play videogames in the dark.

Closer look. This is the only drawing I like.

    Fail timing

    Quick stuff.

Ah guys. I am really unmotivated to draw.

explore different techniques and find ones that work for you!

i think you are doing too much line work!!! take a giant piece of charcoal stick, use the sides and thats it and dont draw lines! block in the shapes!!

we see things in shapes. when we look at the world around us, we dont see line drawings around objects or people. we see shapes, with details inside those shapes. light and shadows form shapes = values. so when you're drawing the figure, see things in forms of shapes.

kinda scattered, but hope that makes sense. let me know, maybe we can do another stream session one of these days.

    Reboot.

Angelo: I do as you say, master.

So I am reworking my whole figure drawing process. I feel like my previous methods suck, so I am searching for a new one. I think I am on the right track now. New style

    Studies from figure drawing book:

    From photo ref:

Having a bit more trouble with male figure

Perspective review for new project i am soon going to start

Hey guys. I havent posted in a while! I have been real busy so I had no time to scan my work. I still have been trying to work just as hard though! Here are some of my recent stuff. Not so great cause I am doing some really basic stuff. I also have been trying to be more creative with my studies and do some stuff just for the fun of it.

Oh I also bought a moleskine. Its awesome!

I hate acrylics after this study.

Here is my first attempt at a figure painting with color.. I am still working on it, but i was wondering if there are things i am doing wrong? The whole process is very confusing to me. How do I get it to be not so dirty-looking?

Does she look like she is made out of gold? Lol.

    hey there

the choice of colours looks ok to me, it s just the transitions that are to "abrupt". And the contour line of her arm is odd.

i have this problem also, when i try things in colour, i find that some choices look pretty muddy.
here's a link that saved lots of annoyance when i chose the colours:
    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=157251

i usually go for 3 main colours and mix them from there. It works for me in most cases, although i forget sometimes that i should start mixing the colours in a logical fashion, and not "what comes to mind".

I am in school, sorry for the imageless post. I am just really bored in English class.

Hey man, looking at the top of this page I had taken a mental note that your proportions were inconsistent in a lot of your figures and that you should be doing lots more studies and maybe some bridgman to help you get used to doing them correctly. However as I scrolled down I saw that you had done exactly that! and your proportions have already improved. So awesome job man.
I'd like to see you address your head studies with the same vigor now! Overall they are pretty good but your feature placement is a little wayward in places. But again I'm sure you know this and it's just a case of keeping up what you're doing!
Keep up the ggod work man!

    Peace
    Dan

dude good shit! I'm proud to see that you're still pushing yourself! sorry I didnt get to comment much, but something quick:

shadow colors are not color+black. a great way to do it is use a desaturated opposite of your main color. i.e. if the main color of an object is green, then you can use as a shadow color a dark grayish red.

kind of a quick explanation but ill comment more later! or facebook me!

the important thing is you're still drawing.

you're better today than yesterday and tomorrow you'll be even better.
