Hi, my name is Cristian. I'm 14.
So, I've been a lurker enough to know that if I want to grow artistically, this is the place. I've seen many an artist start off from nothing and end up amazing, so I figured I should get a headstart, and begin young.

I'm not here to be praised about how young and good I am ()
I'd like some decent comments or critiques on my art.

Your 3/4 heads don't look 3/4. You should make studies of head in all directions. Learn to construct. Read a book.

Good luck, draw often, but keep on eye on your progress at school too! Very important.

This update just gonna be a short one. I've decided I haven't been doing enough digital work, so I working on my of my sketches, the underwater underwear with the breathing apparatus.

I'm actually doing the first one without lines , so it's new for me but I am learning tonnes of things. Tell me what you think

You have some nice line quality and there are nice little touches and details on all of these, but you lack in other foundations like anatomy and general structure in the faces. Anyway you certainly got talent, but if you wanna improve fast you have to study more, thats anatomy, life drawings ect. Looking forward to what you do next!

I'll go along with what the others in here have said, anatomy general shape construction techniques and for my own personal touch, instead of smoothing out hard edged brushes in your paintings, try using a soft brush for blocking in and carve it back to where you want.

Some 3/4-ish head studies I did in consecutive days because Vigilandius said mine don't look very much like them. I learned quite a bit but still not the blend of realistic yet interesting style I'm aiming for.

Then the same picture that I'm STILL working on, after a taking a break then picking it back up after some encouragement from my friend, Robert. I'm actually liking how the helmet is turning out.

Good work CrissCross, there is certainly improvement in your face studies but try to abandon your style for a while (great that you've got one though!) and look at some books for help. Andrew Loomis is always a good start or William Maughan's The Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head could give you some ideas how a head should look like, how to do realistic shading, proportions, etc.
You've got the idea - you do a good nose, fairly 3 dimensional - however, the rest of the head is flat and the eyes never seem to sit at the correct place.

It's a nice style you've got, however, I'd advise the same as the others: learn anatomy, do lots of life drawing (or use photo reference) and don't only draw from imagination. You have to learn first what things really look like before you can draw them without reference.

Hello, once again. I took JetLime's advice, as well as building on from Vigilandius' and Miles_'s previous advice and I'm still working on the construction of heads. I found some pages by Andrew Loomis, printed 'em off, and he's really helpful and straightforward for constructing head. I see now where I've been going wrong, and where I need to improve.

I've also been drawing from magazines and photos, but nothing worth posting. The idea of the man with the fish actually came from a picture of Lupe Fiasco which is why I named it FiascoFish....

That sounds like a good username as well.

It looks like you have some trouble drawing the nose in different positions. You should observe carefully its construction in every pose. You've got a great illustration style and good design and expression.

Ronald Liu Ya, I really only know how to draw noses one way, but I'll work on it. I'm developing my own way to construct it so hopefully that will work.

Alrighty now, new icon and some more shit.
The First two are for last weeks CHOW, the topic Sluagh, which was a pretty open-ended topic. I didn't end up finishing in time (though I doubt my entry would have stood a chance against the amazing ones) but I am pleased with the design and painting.

Then the last thing is just some sappy, naked couple holding each other because it's spring up here, and love is in the air blah blah blahblah blaa....

Anyway I'm excited for the big DEEP challenges. my main focus will probably be CHOW, but I might (key word might) branch off into EOW and COW. Wish me luck!

You really have amazing potential. Mabye what you could try to do ( what I am also trying) is thinking of an expression, then drawing the expression you are thinking of, not just naming the expression after your draw it. I feel like it could help alot in developing your characters.
