Hey, thanks for the feedback, i'm on bit of a digital mission at present, but it seems to be bearing fruit, so thanks for noticing.

I always carry a sketchbook and scribble in it all the time, but I tend to wait 'til i have a load of work and post it all at once, so sit tight and keep an eye out. Thats the bonus of fast digital work, it's so easy to post and keep moving!

I am in love with your ink work, especially your figures. They have such style and a great flow.
Your digital work is improving a lot, too. Try using harder brushes with high opacity so it's not so fuzzy. And I love your creative landscapes, too.

Technical question: what ink tools are you using? Would you share your process if you have the time?

I like your character studies. I really like the loose feel of your work. I am amazed by what you are doing with inks. I enjoy ink work, but sometimes it feels heavy to me. However I am mesmerized by the fluid feel and the ability to really create a mood in the work. I think i am a mood junky..i love recreating moods. really really think the work is good.

Thanks, do appreciate the interest. With the ink I use a Pilot V5, those are the pieces with the uniform line. I also use indian ink and a dipping pen for other pieces, but I don't think there are too many of them in my sketchbook, but some.

Love your oils and ink sketches! I'm amazed at the speed you do the paintings in. They have a nice feel to them aswell, expressive. And I agree with something you said on a previous page, there's nothing like getting your hands messy with paint, I prefer it over digital too Nice SB, will keep an eye on it.

Here's a bit of goofy sci-fi and an icky creature. Working on a portfolio of digital stuff, so might as well broaden the content a little.

Both are just little spot sketches, had an idea and jotted it down before i forgot again!

Do you pencil your drawings first or just dive right in?

Your line work is enviable. I noticed the weight of your line work in expressing your subjects. Again I am super impressed at how fluid the work looks, particularly if you are not using a pencil and then inking. After your writing me I have been thinking, thinking and thinking about how to let go and really explore inks. Thank you very much for responding to my inquiries.

I have done a few inks, but feel chained. As I stated before your inks do not feel heavy or static.

I also like your use of space. I like how you render value also. The drawings to not appear flat. Its interesting though in your figures you appear to be only addressing contours?????

First thank you very much for the ink technique tips. I have not posted my inks yet. I will next week. I think one of the reasons inks appeal to me include the balance of control, lack of control, spontaneity and the ability to record thought impressions. I have a passion for oil I know. I am not sure what attraction ink has for me...but every since I picked up the inks a couple of months ago I am weirdly fascinated.

Also it is amazing what you do in 10-15 mins. very kewl. I know my eye is fascinated with the play of light and the values in your latest submission.

Well, i can't say exactly what this is, but it's something.

yep its something alright!!

Variations in form, light and shadow create an illusion and treat for the eye. Creating depth in shadow I think is something I have observed in your previous pieces. Perhaps the latest posting is a w.i.p. or a fantastic accident waiting to be develop.

I might be wrong, but I think there are possibilities with your form. I would push abstract shapes in the dark areas to force the eye off the main event, perhaps creating light in an unusual area of the ink area by adding values around the area of light. I also think the planes of the object could be defined. But then again I am not sure, because what I am writing is what I would do.

Also if you track eye movement of someone else, or put the piece away for a day or two and see how your on eye travels the piece, you might notice how the eye only takes in one area and kinda focuses in. That is why I think pushing values in other areas of the work might create additional visual interest.
I hope you revisit the piece. It is definitely interesting in a good way.
