Thanks jeremygordon89 Yeah, I think the line-drawings are where I'm the most comfortable

Thanks insanelight! I'm hoping I'll get a chance to do more like that. It was a fun process.

Thanks kiwigarbage! I think I know what you mean about the skin study thing? Are you touching on how things are just kinda roughed in around what would be skin or is it a texture thing? I was just wondering if you could elaborate. I'm making a list of stuff I need to work on more in the coming weeks

Love your work, especially the likeness in the portraits! I recognized Antoine Dodson (The "hide yo kids"-guy) immediately.

pixel cheetah, thanks, yeah I agree. I'm working on a revision of it with some better lighting.

Cielocchi, thanks!! It wasn't that long ago I was tearing my hair out over likeness issues and every face I drew looked like mine, hehe. It's nice to know my stuff is starting to resemble who it's supposed to. Thanks

    Zat, thanks

jNeumann, thanks, I hope to do more like it

    hücumkedi, thanks

Here's a new piece I finished with some process:

Really nice stuff here. I like how you present your images you did with ink(?).
I hope you understand what I try to say with my limited English.

Thanks Warforce 17 , Yup, I use a lot of ink in most of the black and white work. I bought some colored inks a while ago so I was thinking of trying those out and seeing how those go.

I decided to finish off this one from last November.

I was interested in a different lighting set-up than my first version. I built a quick maquette out of sculpey and lit it various ways.
The piece began with a ballpoint pen thumbnail scratched out in my sketchbook.

Woaa, the ink work is absolutely amazing, five stars. If you don't mind me asking; do you sketch lightly with pencil or something first or just dive into it with ink right away?

    Hi Origa,
    Thanks very much
The more opaque black and white ink work usually has some light pencil guidelines.
For the transparently applied washes of grayscale ink ones I usually do a drawing on a cheap piece of paper and then transfer it to the watercolor paper when I'm ready to paint.

This stuff is looking really good. It's great to see the way you fill each page of your sketchbooks. I can't think of any advice except to post more.

Alot of very strong work, I especially enjoy your black and white drawings and your sense of composition within the page, although, I would say your figures lack a certain sense of spatial presence but the energy and flow of your work are very impressive. Keep it up son!

Thanks Quinster... and thanks for the critique. Any chance you could clarify what you mean by 'spacial presence'? I'm trying really hard to improve and didn't want to make any assumptions about what it means. Thanks

Thanks Ogihara Yeah, I have some more pencil stuff on the go right now. I'll scan it when it's closer to being done.

    Thanks JakeB I'll try
