"Wild Dogs" - Ringling animated short by Cat Hicks (Siggraph Selection)

    Hello folks!

This is my senior animated short film thesis from Ringling College of Art and Design. I feel lucky to say that this film was accepted into the 2009 Siggraph Animation Festival!

    Watch it in HD here!

If you have a moment to watch, feedback and critique is welcomed and encouraged!

If interested, my animation demo reel can be found here at CatHicks.com.

    Thank you!

    -Cat

Amazing work! It's mostly the perfect acting and expressions that
make it so wonderful. The happenings are also funny and raise a smile
Say.. Was the music written especially for the film? It's quite awesome,
and contributes a lot to the wild savanna atmosphere.

    Well done, and good luck!

    Indeed, the animation was great.
And I noticed you had Chris as a composer, he once composed something for me too. Great composer, isn't he?

    Good luck at Siggraph!

nice simple idea pretty well executed. there are some really nice subtle motions going on, however, there are a few spot where you should EXAGGERATE more. one spot for instance is the anticipation when the first hyena is getting ready to bite the skeleton for the first time. The exaggeration is what gets laughs. this piece has a lot of potential, and right now its very pretty and smoothly animated but i think with some more exaggeration it could also be hilarious.
    -start a revolution.

Yup, I agree. Especially on that punch too, on the contact and timming you can augment it a bit. Congrats on a great movie that had me smiling all along though

Congratulations, Cat! It looks like you've worked hard and made the most out of your years at Ringling. I really enjoyed your design work - strong, solid work.
