    Hey Simon,

It's been ages since i last saw you on here, me and a friend were talking about your work not too long ago! So it's a pleasant surprise to see you back, and back with a bang by the looks of it! You definately have a signature style, very dark, twisted and original.

I love this take on Medusa, it's something I would never have thought of, it's like a heavily mutated monster without an ounce of humanity in sight, and only an evil entity in it's place.

I enjoy seeing your sculpts, very inspiring dude. Thanks for sharing!

    Welcome back!

    Best wishes,

    Kenny

Absolutely awesome sculpt, I love the design and the pose looks menacing but maybe a little playful ( in an evil way)

brilliant I love it, will you do a painted version?

    Simon,

as always, this is just mind blowing. i dont know if you have mentioned this before or not, but what do you derive your inspiration from? I mean, i dont know if i can even think in that level of detail.
Looking for other Denver area artists!

There's certainly no doubt that Spider-Z has hit his stride. There's just a sick consistency to his work. And it's terrific to know that this magnificent addition to the old portfolio will pale in comparison to what's still yet to be created.

I'm still waiting for Hollywood to come and find you, Simon. I trust you to shape the look and feel of any creature feature they've got in the works.

hey thanks guys for your kind words and comments.
KU, hope to see you at Monsterpalooza.
Siamese Goldfish, thanks man. I draw my ideas mainly from nature - animals, plants, people etc. my thing has always been about finding the form. with this one, there're elements of a flower, blowfish, a lady in a fur coat, reptilian motif, and Gigier alien influences.
Bongsplat, I'm producing this as a resin model kit, so yeah, there'll be painted version soon.
    thanks again everyone

    Hi there,

dont get me wrong if I dare go controversial later on, but first things first I dig your skills with sculpting and handling finery of detail, no question there.

But - and this is a general concern of mine - why do nowadays about all creations have to be as gory and surgical disfigured as can be, especially when someone takes on something as traditional as (greek) mythology, its the wrong way to me. That would be like have Little Red Riding Hood be some weird hillbilly with port-wine-stains and swinging a chainsaw.
It almost seems to me like a post-Giger-ian age out there, since his ALIEN design and international acknowledgment of his works many picked up his bold creativity in designing beautifully ugly things.
This is nothing personal just a general thought of mine because its what I reckognise more often than I'd like to.

    Thumbs up

    She is sooo GOREGEOUS!!!

And what you do with Chavant is just stunning. I would love to see a video tutorial as you work. Sorry for my curiousity.

    Simon, like allways 5 stars.

Looks awesome, SZ - but are these pics of the 'finished' sculpt?

I ask because the left arm in one photo looks to be in a roughed-out mode, and the teeth look like they've yet to be smoothed, very roughly-edged.

I like the concept, but with so much detail going on with the sculpt, I think it would be really well balanced in the 'more is less' vein, with a simple base - a flat/semi-gloss pedestal or simple block - your sculpt interacting with it, flowing over and around the edges?

Again, great concept and detail!! And just my 2 cents, hope ya' don't mind.

    Thanks for posting!!
