    Sketch Book - PR

    Dears,

I am starting my sketch book on conceptart.org. As I am still a beginner, I would like to receive many suggestions and criticism as possible. I have decided to do this illustration some time ago, while watching some old horror movies. Behind the box, there were a picture of the original movie poster, which I have used as a reference. Thus, I added some details as the scars and putrid marks in the face. Also, I choose not giving so much details on his clothes.

To start it, I am posting an image I made some time ago just to trainning the use of graphite, and to use as a bassis to paint it digitally.

    Cheers!

    Nice start man!
I love the skin on that one. Looks oily and unhealthy.

Well, judging by your single post I'd say you have a pretty good grasp on tones and such. As anyone else would say though if you want to improve on your skills and what not, just practice and draw a lot from life. It's kind of tough to say if there's anything that you need to work on, you should post some more of your work, some of your rough sketches and drafts. Then more could be offered in terms of advice and all. From your first post though, I'd say it's pretty damn good though. Keep it up.

    Dears,

I am posting a work using pen & ink, which I finished today. It is just a study to make a draw using a coloured painting or illustrations as reference. My choices were a painting of Renoir, and a painted cover of Marvel comics.

I am waiting for your comments.

    Best regards

Great work! I can't see any major problems you have. You are really improving with your rendering. Practise more and more and try to do more drawings from memory because when you get it right by yourself it sticks with you.

like it very good inks : )
but a little tip start focusing on the anomaly a bit
i'm not saying u have it wrong but push it .just play with it
the only thing i like about my school is the anatomy class its the real practical knowledge that u get there .art is mainly intuitive not many rules but anatomy is one of them so star loving it

just keep up the good work

    Pauloricardo:

Thanks for the comments on my work! Just a few on yours if you like constructive criticism. I think the drawing of Jesus and Mary is pretty good...what size and how long did it take you? If you are going for realism in your drawings then you cant miss any detail. Aside from the ones outside your skill level but even then try to do side thumbnail sketches to get it down before comitting to your piece. Try to push the darks and lights a little more...I continually struggle with that but my latest piece shows how I have been progressing. Use charcoal on really dark areas. The inks are nice but again they seem to be flat. Keep pushing it and lets see more work. Ill post more of mine soon.

    Hello curvestudios,

About the piece of Pieta and Jesus, I took about 9 hours to do that in a A3 size paper. I used a picture as reference, and I choose to not make a perfect copy of the statue. Because of it, I changed the facial expression of Mary and I let an aura surrounding Jesus head, but as the picture I took from the drawing was too dark, I manipulated it in Photoshop and some of these details were lost. Anyway... I like realism paiting, and as you said, I lost some details because a little bit of impatience.

Regarding to the ink works, some time ago, I noticed that the faces were flat... thus... I am doing some studies about it, but it is not in my SB...

I keep updating here, I hope you continue visiting my SB and give your constructive cristicisms.... thanks a lot

Hello all, I have not updated it for a long time.

I would like to share with you some exercises I am doing. The images below are drawings I have made between 2 and 3 minutes. To do it, I used magazine pictures and comic books. For the last image, I made the same exercise while I was in a hospital some days ago, from this day, I have more pictures, but today, just this, with the babies is available, I intend to post more in next days.

Construtive crits are always needed and I appreciate it a lot.

maosume, thanks for your visit and comments.

Sean, I sent you a message, did you got it?

Nice stuff so far but I think some life studies would definitely be of help.
    My sketchbook

"This is a paint and pixel-splattered furnace that forges the swords of artistic mastery. This is a place where swarthy and belligerent dwarves drink turpentine mead, berate their apprentices and slap the trade into their skulls. It's where the anvils are made of graphite, the hammers are as true as rectangular marquee selections and the fires burn with the light of a thousand lensflares." --Jason Rainville
