    Al-Pal Please! [SB]

    ▬►WELCOME!
    [09-Present]

    Hello, I'm Alex.
I'm a junior in high school and have been trying to draw every now and then for the last six months.
Hopefully, over time I'll get better. I really want to get serious so I'll improve.

So, Please feel free to comment on anything I post.
Suggestions for stuff/drawing exercises would be great too.

    Quick face for you all.

Ignore the random mouth on her forehead and the random nose in her hair.

The faces above look flat to me some how. I can't seem to pin down exactly why but I think it might have something to do with your tendency to work very lightly. Your lines are a rich black and in comparison to that the shading looks very close to white. I'm not sure but I think that might be an issue. Anyway, I really like the last piece, it seems very strong. That said it seems like it might have been even more interesting as a line drawing. Good luck and keep going
I have nothing interesting to say but here's my sketchbook, perhaps you'll think I've drawn something interesting XD http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=167964

Thank you a lot Strange. It did look a lot more interesting as a line drawing.

Yeah, I really need to work on the form of the face.

I know that hat is amazing. XD I wish the photo would of had a pinstripe one so I could have drawn more.

Study from the front cover of Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy by Christopher Hart. It 's a fantastic book I would recomend to anyone.

Crit me please, I know the hands/feet were left out but I wanted to do some studies before I finished those.

Here's a portrait I did recently for a good friend of mine.
I have been working with some of Bridgman's book so I will upload some studies soon.

Hey. Nice work. I think you're improving quickly. I would suggest perhaps focusing on more sketch work. Try to do gestural portrayal of figures to capture weight and movement.

This will give you valuable skills in observation and help you to loosen up your line work.

This is my first post by the way. Keep up the good work.

Jason, I'm glad your first post was such a constructive comment.
I understand what you mean about my lines. They do need some movement.
    Thank you for the advice.

Welcome to CA, by the way.
