Have a good week kind sir, good luck on the portfolio.![]()
yeah the yakuza could kick ass if you finish him! sweet portrait too.
keep it up!
That Yakuza piece is looking imposing already! I think it would be cool to have them wrap around him a bit more, maybe some more flowing shapes? Looking forward to seeing this one done!
Thanks for the screenshot, hahah. That session was fun. I drew some more dragon heads after that.
Wow man, only 15? Quit highschool to study art? That shit's intense! You're definitely on the right track, way better than I was at 15. It's gonna be scary how good you'll be by the time your my age! On the latest conte figures, I don't know exactly what you were going for but emphasizing the core shadow could have made for some yummy forms; also the portrait has some great edgework. Just keep livin' the dream man.

Keep the shit coming, sorry don't have anything more useful to say
The edges are starting to look nice! I find the second compostion more appealing, I like how you repeated the shapes more, it looks very appealing. Generally I feel the new one has more depth. I feel the focal point could be stronger though. I think if you made the door way lighter in value it would really grab our attention. Maybe some tiny figures standing on the plateform where the focal point is.

Good job on the color study shit and the penises dude!
read this post by xin and thought of what your work needed. couldn't have said it better myself. *_*
the post is here. You want to translate the figure into basic geometric polygons such as spheres, boxes and cylinders. The thought process is to see the model, find the anatomical landmarks (acromion processes, center line, iliac crest, etc.), simplify the shape and drawing it while being mindful of perspective and space. Don't try to start by copying the outline, e.g. try to find fit your simple box/egg into the outline of the rib cage. Don't feel constrained to draw exactly what you see, think of it as an analysis and not a copy of the model. Enhance form by exaggerating anatomy and exaggerate the gesture too. Be mindful of proportions too as you draw the polygons. For this early block-in stage, I recommend using the side of the well-tapered charcoal pencil as it's easy to erase. Then I just sorta refine it, I don't really work in a structured way from here haha. I keep on constructing the different parts, maybe reinforce a couple of lines here and there. You can draw out the terminators and quickly block in the shadow too.
Of course, there's always a bit of optical in construction and vice versa. So don't hesitate to use comparative measurement and stuff.

I gotta say as it stands right now, compositionally and with the color palette, that last painting just looks like Freds astronaut, but space grandma in space. Also with the comp studies, the main point shouldn't be about rendering a small study, but accurately breaking down the shapes of the image like in that Booth, I'd add a third value to get those gray shapes, then try and accurately depict them abstractly, keep it up man though you are doing good things, I still think you should slow down a bit.![]()
You really are improving a lot with all those figures, i'd like to see some more time-filled work.
I love these peeps.
superb updates ryan. i'm serious. you're improving all around that it's hard to keep up!but i must agree with a few that you should slow down a bit. i can see that in some of your studies they have more thought put into them when comparing to other studies of which you allotted the same time into but they don't bear the same quality.
take care with each study bro. you are becoming good, so i can't say that nothing bad has come of this. keep it upand FOCUS

Sweet life drawings man! They look pretty solid.
On the second CHOW, there is a bit of a contradiction--the face and top half is rather manly, but the legs and panties are very girly. I would choose one gender and make it more obvious throughout. Also in the very last image, I can't tell what the white thing is...but I still like the image. Are they stars there? Maybe try adding some more hue variation since stars can be blue, pink, white, red etc. Just google some like Hubble photos and you will see.
Keep it up man!
PS: Congrats again on the scholarship...hope you have fun at TAD!!!

Hello friend
I see much improvement since I last stopped by. What I can suggest for your characters is to keep the character's silhouette on a different layer and keep it very clean. You seem to be painting the bg over the character on the same layer to correct your shape. The problem with this is that you're constantly going back and forth repainting the outline as your render, so I personally prefer to keep my silhouette on a different layer and erase/paint to correct the drawing then turn lock layer transparency on when I'm rendering (this way I can even use an airbrush and still preserve a razor sharp outline of the silhouette). This forces you to be more precise too.
My 2 cents![]()
Grats on the scholarship!!!

Nice work man, you're getting really gooooood! Keep up da hard works![]()
Nice studies, my beautiful croissant. Your figures are looking better and better.
Moar charcoal!
PS: What's all this noise about scholarship? Why don't I know about this? Congrats!
yes man really cool
youre doing good buddy. that last post is fantastic! i agree with MetalFingers(?) that for those silhouettes you should add in a 3rd value just to get a bit more...detail i guess. i just feel like it would help more. oh and i wrote a thing in my sb that i think would help your studies. feel free to stop by
keep it up man!

I like how you manage to stay loose with the inks. I think, however, that you REALLY need to slow down. Sure, some of these are from life drawing where there is a time limit, but even then. Don't just throw down a line quickly in roughly the spot it should be. THINK before each line, and then be careful with your mark making to get it accurate and to describe the form the best you can. With digital it is easy to cover up/fix/change/whatever, but in traditional media it is less so. Try to get it right the first time, and take your time. Taking your time doesn't necessarily mean spending longer on a drawing, more spending longer contemplating and making each stroke.
