    Heya

It's good to see you trying to go a bit out of your confort zone. Your environments are astonishing as they are, so now it's time to bring the characters to the same level

Ricardo Robles Oh thanks alot, Thanks for checking out my stuff! will do!.
theories Heh thanks alot!, yeh Im trying to be abit more "traditional" with my art, or atleast work more towards it, im not there yet, but I think its one of my goals
Rustveld Thanks alot, im happy you like my environments
WhiteC Ah cheers, glad u dig it!.
mariusz Thanks alot, will do! I hope.
Morgado Thanks alot!, yeh im definitly trying out new stuff, its just fun to do something different. but I still feel like my environments need alot of work=).
Mark Tarrisse Yeh thats a good idea, I will have to try to apply that more often
derbz Thanks alot!, glad u like the stuff!, yeh lasso is useful at times, tho I tend to work into those edges cuz they can get abit too sharp and flat, but lasso tool can be good to make more organic shapes or rocks and stuff.
Diverse Ah thanks alot!, I will have to try to make them better!
    Pixie Trick Heh yeh indeed
Bendragon Thanks alot!, heh yeh slowly
Pixie Trick Cheers, yeh I will try to do some architectures, im just trying to do some landscapes and get better at those at the moment.

The jungle and a few of those environments and drawings are some months old, I didnt use alot of reference back than so alot of stuff had alot of similarities, in trees and rock shapes, but its something im working on, I have done alot of quick tree studies lately .

Todays update: images I have done over a few days

Some pencil drawings of various trees and plants, but mostly trees, they are all from reference images.
I tried change and simplify all of them (the part of the exercise), and improve the "gesture" of the trees to make it just abit more extreme than the real life version, abit like a comic artist would do to a character, I also tried to feel what type of person and personality each tree had, kinda hard to do, but it helps I think that way, atleast its kinda fun sometimes and you can give them more personality.
I tried to build up each tree like a character, starting with the gesture , than the big shape of the leafs and slowly work toward the details, practicing looking for negative shapes and all those stuff.

And also get some good drawing practice with pencil, they were all done with a 6b pencil.

Holy Jesus you're good. Your environments are of course amazing, and the portrait of the old man is off the wall... but those pages of trees... I agree with Jabo I think I fainted for a second. Lovely work.

Jabo Thanks alot, glad u liked it

Anyway im making this post because this weeks live portfolio reviews here on CA has been supergreat! they were talking for over 10 hours! at times, it was crazy, alot of good points to think about was mention great for learning.

Also the new "live stream" program was awsome compared to the old one, which was painfully hard to follow at times since they had to keep restarting all the time. But the new one works mutch better and alot more functions, more of a school class type of stream.

Anyway im concerned my environments are getting too "painterly", I know its not even close to craig mullins in terms of that.

But I have been studying old master landscapes paintings and I try to apply it to my art,
thinking about edges, color vibrations and all those stuff, im worried that my environments would lean more into illustrations or fineart.

but in conceptart you would be more concerned with surface, textures, how shiny something is, industrial design, the rendering and describing as mutch as u can for a 3d artist, so maybe having a painterly style would leave "too mutch" stuff in the painting too lose and suggestive.

But anyway I think it very good to do both, there is so mutch u can learn from masterstudies and traditional which applies to both ofcourse!
But maybe I should paint more like a video game

Anyways it was long time ago since last update here, I hope this update makes up for it tho there is very little buildings and characters in it! in still gotta practice those, the art are sort of varied, some not completely finished some are.

    edit: sharpend the pictures abit

This is my first time seeing your stuff. I am not really a painting sort of guy but I really enjoy looking at yours. The colors are really nice and that painting of the Planet floating in the hole with people staring at it is such a cool and different idea. I love it!

Thanks for sharing all this stuff.

Noooo... I hear all these great things about the latest post but I can't see a thing!?!?!?

Anyhow, it's great to hear your thoughts! Each circumstance does requires a different approach.

Edit: I can them now!! You have been busy haven't you! Now that you bring it up, I can see that there could be a great deal of improvement in the rendering of materials. Generally the lack of bright hilights or maybe the lack of different levels of contrast in different materials. For example, Just adding some brighter areas on the metal roof of the one image would add some dimension.

My fave is the red trees with the waterfall-ish thing. Very very nice work!
