Take it easy on those pencils, no one is rushing you.
Before starting to render the faces, make sure first that
the proportions are all right. My experience tells me
that the most darker you can go with a 2B mechanical
pencil on the paper. So you can try with that one to
darken the darkest parts of your portraits, for example
the eye, and some dark hair parts. Do more contrast
on your drawings. This last ones looks really great
and you are improving, you just do more in the same
    fashion.

Small study of Deutschs "Palace Guard". I actually finished this one 2 times already, but my PS crashed just as I was about to finish it up, making in total 4 hours going to waste. I`ll start again for the third time...Super pissed at my computer ATM -_-

Sorry to hear about the comp crashing.
That could be real annoying, I know.
Watch for the eye placement, you can still
change it, cause it is not right, you have
more then one eye space between them
and the one is maybe higher than the other.

@Lt.Plissken - Thanks, m8! I actually measured the eye width on the original image, and it turns out his eyes in fact are more apart than usual. I guess it is a characteristic of the subject (along with his wide nose and narrow, undefined nose bridge)

Anyways - finished. 4th time`s the charm. -_- I`m just not sure if my GC is dying or me, or the motherboard, with those weird flickering dots on my computer screen and cracks in music when I`m opening a program. And my comp is just a bit over a year old. All this right now, when I`m super broke and in a mood to "paint" like never before. Gah...

maybe this is an excellent time to experiment with traditional mediums? I'm very curious what kind of results you'd make with it, but that's up to you tho of course (and i guess paint isn't really cheap either).
    Anyways, love the recent update!

    Like it-like it-like it.
    Beautiful rendering.
His helmet is maybe a bit flat.
I know the story about a dying computer.
It can be real annoying and can ruin ones life
experience, if you know what I mean.
However, you can send me your workstation,
I could fix it, cause that is what I do currently for a living.

Small update - finished chow (amazon queen), abandoned chow (serial killer), sketches, doodles, profile studies (finally figured out what I was doing wrong), and a pseudo Rosie Poe "fanart" (if this dosen`t lure Ally to come here and crit, I don`t know what will)

Also, since I woke up today feeling all , I`d like to share 2 stories with you -

-There was a "contest", or maybe better said a "call" for young illustrators at this publishing house called "Profil". I responded, and would you know it - after 2 months, I get an email telling me I`m now officially a part of their "Illustrator catalog" for clients. Yay, right? Well, considering most projects around here are given based on connections and nepotism (regardless of profession - that`s "country in transition" for you!), it`s highly unlikely somebody will ever call me. Thank God. I don`t know what I was thinking doing that (especially with my skill set).

    - Remember his one ---> The poster I did for "Fashion warderobe" for my facultys fashion show, which I was so proud of? Well, after slaving over it for 3 weeks, making sure everything is perfect, submitting it in several different formats and getting so much praise from my professor...and all this for free...they didn`t use it. Instead they went for this ---> , made by one of the assistants. Just like the year before, and year before and...well, you get the picture. Now, I will not comment on the second one (for that would really be WAY too pretentious, even for me), as tastes really do differ, but...why? Why did they stall me like that? I know I`m just a student, a nobody really, but...why? I learned my lesson, that`s for sure. No more freebies. And careful who you put your trust in.

Anyways...sorry about all this b*@/! of mine. Not classy at all, I know. I promise my next post will be all nice and sweet and yay!
    But now...I am...disappoint...

    the moorish guy looks great

the piece by the assistant with the cake and the lazy eye is really atrocious, I'm sorry they did that to you and your piece was really cool. But I think that bringing the faces all the way to the edge was a mistake, I'd rather see something else happening more towards the middle, based on golden mean measurements. it's distracting finding the lens flare eye on the edge of the piece.

If you wanted to create tension you could always have her looking off into the environs.

raminafshari & Velocity Kendall - Thanks, guys!
@ Naomi Ningishzidda - Luckily for me, that`s all water under the bridge now, but thanks for the tip. ^_^

Today - chow again (hrmmm...), and 2 quick color doodles - a guy with extra broken anatomy (oh dear) and something of an...enviro? IDK. I just messed with brushes in PS, made the sky, liked it and slapped some really bad looking buildings...lame, I know.
Pencils...where did I put my pencils...I know I left them round here somewhere....*wanders off scratching his head*

    hey,

some good stuff. i really enjoy your life drawings.

to improve, you could really work a lot more on your figures from mind; on the whole figure. your current sketches show that they don't have much weight to them, and often your males are kind of stiff, while your females often have the same posing (hip thrust). so, they could be more flexible. look at your life drawings, and then try to do that from imagination. lol, if you want..

hey Pxel. i came in here all, yea here we go. this guys getting ripped to shreds now. but shit! WTF!!! stop working so damn hard! i cant really find anything to crit, but one littl thing. and thats to just try getting more out of your comfort zone with these extremely tight, smooth as a babys arse paintings. they look awesome, but it could be cool to see you get more expressive with your brushstrokes, and maybe punch up the vibrancy of your colors. think out your color schemes, with some more contrasting schemes, like hot and cool colors with some more punch. but im just nit pickin. your doing great man, and that sucks that your poster didnt get picked. maybe it looked too good, and they thought it would have mis represented them, because they arent as cool as that. ha. be good, keep it funky, and give us MOAR!
