This sounds good. I work best when I have to answer to someone. I have no idea where I fit, so I can either be assigned to a team or someone can PM me if they'd like me.
This could be so much fun.

I think this is a really good idea and could be a lot of fun... provided there is an even playing field. So I'm with Daniela here 100%... and I'm willing to go wherever.
But... I have to be totally honest if I see a groups of Posh, Bumskee, Vorace and JessiBean's forming together (for example)... what will be the point of this challenge? If it is really to be a community building exercise each group should have people of various skill levels and it shouldn't be the usual buddies getting together.
I think mixing it up will have much more interesting, unexpected results and be a challenge for everyone in different ways. I'm sure Posh and Daestwen don't need more to do... but I really think groups should be "approved" based on variation of the people in it.
Just my 2 cents... as usual.![]()

I think shan, above, says it best. I think we would all be best suited to grouping out of the norms. Not only will we be introduced to new people, but we can also learn from each other not only on an individual base, but I think alot of people would like to learn what it would be like to be in a team environment (provided that the team is very well constructed and streamlined). And then there is also the matter of getting different skill levels thrown together. This also seems interesting as everyone might have something to learn.
I dunno, throwing in my 2cents as well 0.o
Almost like mini-studios, competing for opportunity I suppose...

The point is having fun and just participating! All those names participate regularly in CHOW and that doesn't stop people of other skill levels from entering. The challenge is in making an effort to get something cool done with other people, whether is your friends from the community, or new people who want to exchange ideas, skills, processes, whatever. Even when there might be "buddies" around, probably not all of them have shared a common project and I think it's a nice opportunity to do so.
Just a thought![]()
Oh, GAWD: It would be like in gym class when the soccer captain, the volleyball queen and the 6'4" guy would pick each other... Faking a seizure was the only way to keep your dignity...if I see a groups of Posh, Bumskee, Vorace and JessiBean's forming together (for example)...
All kidding aside, I totally agree that teams should be well balanced if this is meant to be a fair contest and a learning experience. Also, as an advice, perhaps there should be a limit of 4 or 5 people per team**. Not really for fairness; it's just that communication and organization can get very difficult in larger teams, mostly since we don't have the privilege to work together in a single room.
**EDIT: Duh, I just re-read the first post and it says 2-4 people teams.

I'm in! I'll have plenty of time this month. : )
LOL, Well put Sekino
I think ideally it would be best to have things done as fairly as possible but it's too uncertain to gauge one's abilities from another and place them on one team, so on and so forth. For those joining(including myself) it's just best to make the most out of this activity in terms of having fun, learning new techniques and making new friendships since there are a lot of new faces here.(I'm a newbie too) OR we could wait and see what Daestwen or poshspice comes up with regarding the matter, if not, then let's all try it for the sheer heck of it, hahaha!![]()
Has anyone actually started forming teams yet?
Or should we just start randomly PMing anyone lol![]()

sounds interesting, although the topic doesn't really make sense to me, sounds kinda like something that would result from bad team work where everyone wants to be the character designer, of course you haven't fully announced the topic yet so this is just a thought I had. Personally I think it would be amazing if the mission was to create a unit that consisted of a vehicle, weapon designs, characters, and beast/pet so your all working on something slightly different but still consistent throughout the unit. Anyway, like a said just a thought, sounds like a very cool idea Daestwen

Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy." -Douglas Adams

My goal: To get good enough to post in the Finally Finished Forum.
I had originally considered making mandatory groupings so that we could spread out the talent level, however:
I don't think this would be very fun. At least not the forcing part.
THEREFORE:
I totally, definitely, completely recommend people to step outside their talent level. I think this is definitely the best way to go. But for people who are very talented, who also want to learn from very talented people, I'm not going to force the issue.
I will only be assigning groups to people who asked to be assigned. Otherwise, I encourage you to find groups where you can both add something to the group, and also learn something from it, and I think this will balance itself out in the end.
I think you took my point the wrong way... it wasn't to complain about the popular people or cliques around CA being discouraging. I know fun is the most important but I think mixing it up will be more fun. I plan to participate either way, and will be putting my money where my mouth is and take my chances with the unfamiliar. So Daestwen... assign me where you will!
There is no way my idea will be implemented so no reason for anyone to get worried that they won't be able to play with their friends or that you might get stuck with me... well unless you don't sign up with a group. *Mwahahahahaha*

I'd say just form random groups and see what happens, it can be refreshing and fun for all levels. Why not in alphabetical order.
Nah, I trust people to choose their groups wisely if they want to. Otherwise I'll assign groups to those who want to be assigned at the end of the week.
That way those that want to group with some random people and have fun that way can, and those that want to group with specific people can have fun too. :]
Okay so several people replied to my first post in here, and I thought I'd move forward and just post our team. It's totally mixed I guess, so it should be tons of fun trying to figure stuff out amongst the 4 of us![]()

Oh no, not alphabetical, then I'll end up with Shannanigan! O.o
Kidding! lol!I'd love that
I really, really wanna participate in this, but I have to wait a few days before signing up since I don't know if I'll actually have proper internet connection the next couple of weeks due to me might staying somewhere else.
And I'm all in for teams with different skill levels or random teams as well. Remember having people with different skill levels will make your team so much more fun learningwise and also you might end up going in directions you thought you'd never do'Tis all about managing to make the group work anyways, right?
