I spent about 50 hours on that one, which is about 20 hours less than my last one. i'm a bit slow at them heh.

awesome sauce.
on the crit side I could say that you probably need to spend more time getting the pose and forms of your characters to read better
Lookeen good maaan. Nice planes on that ear.
As for the character, maybe throw in some more exotic stuff on it ?
Keep voking !

The way you rendered the shine on that earlobe kills me--beautiful, thoughtful work. Your perseverance is really paying off.
wasker - indeed, that has been a long, long running problem of mine. MUST OVERCOME ;p
daniel - thank ya. that particular guy was meant to be kind of subtle, since he's meant for a Web site header. may have taken it a bit too generic. i'll rework and repost.
maaattttgamer - they'd probably just cast vin diesel and fux it up ;p
hunchback - thanks, man. i'll shoot you a PM about cast.
dawn-courtyard - thanks!

Finished up my third cast. Went a bit slower than I would have liked, but still sped up a bit from the last one. These things are so hard to scan ;P
I'll post some sketchbook pages here in the next few days. I actually drew a couple things for myself FINALLY.

The cast drawing is incredible--I especially love the chip! You've come so far with your life drawings, too. Looking forward to when you can show us more work.![]()

dished: aw, maybe next time. why don't you just move here?
courtyard: thanks! i'm pretty anxious to show what i've been working on as well. it takes up all of my time and leaves me no personal work to show ;p

looks like i'm going to have some personal stuff to post over the next few weeks, so i might as well kick start my sketchbook again.
my first batch of thumbnails for a new class. spent about 30 minutes to an hour on each. purposefully loose and fugly, since composition was the only thing of importance, and details mostly just get in the way when figuring that junk out. sorry for the shite values ;P

Wow dude, nice thumbnails ! i find the 2nd one is the best, tho you could change a few things ! i think you know that the eye is attracted by the lightest values in an illustration ( and by faces too ) ! So instead of puting the lightest values on the right side of the thumbnail, you should put it just behind monster, like a light coming from behind him ! Anway, the camera angle is really dynamic, and the abstract shapes are nice ! i'm gonna check again your sb and i'm looking forward to see an amazing piece ! Keep it up
hey walid, thanks for the input!
i totally flaked on the value range in all of those. i'd say values in general are probably my biggest issue right now. my brain just refuses to get it
i actually paint with the histogram panel open. baha.
