magicpuddingyeah I'm basically concentrating on finding a job first and studies second that is all I'm putting my mind into after taking care of my tiny daughter of course thanks for stopping by

miycko thanks man, working hard pays off at the end I know it.

tasser guten tag! welcome bro glad you like my stuff, keep studying until you feel you get the hang of i and then move on to the next subject and then go back and refine the previous subject once more and so on...

Benjaminba Thanks for the tip, I sure need warm ups before I start drawing, helps my precision and perception.

BlackDelphin hey you are so right about everything, I'm just too lazy to fix those I rather go and beat myself with studies I sure need them especially for my color which sucksss!
Thanks for the tips I always appreciate it.

lilnebo whasssuppppp girl?! your sketchbook has been dry lately whats up with that? I'm glad you like my stuff see you soon aight??

Today I had an interview at The Denny's it went well and I should be getting a phone call for another interview, man I hope I get a job soon otherwise we wont be able to pay rent if things keep going like this T_T

anyhow here's some photo studies from the national geographic website, I'm still terrified from Environments they just seem so hard to do and the beginning is so ugly and discouraging, hope I will pass this phase...

Done few hours of head studies, too tired to upload so I only show this sci fi experiment inspired by starcraft.

Yep, nice study. Like the aerial perspective and sense of depth you've created. Experimenting is the name of the game. Congrats on your enthusiasm and dedication. Impressive.

    A real collection indeed, sweet!
This one reminds me of COW 177, water hoarder.

Nice details on it, especially that belly looks interesting. I think you should work a bit more on composition on these danny!!
It is a pity to have worked so much on one of these, and lose points (so to say) just because the background could have been just a tad more retouched..

    See you fighter!

I've been absent for a while and look what we have here, brand new Danny ver. 2.0 Massive , i'm telling you massive progress.

I've got some advices/ propositions for you. Put away the mechanical pencil it's a difficult tool to handle. It does speciffic marks which often tend to be boring, lifeless. Stick with regular pencils, but for the sake of the quality of drawing get some better ones from art store, they're cheap anyway.

Second thing is, try painting with shapes. Intsead of using a line; block in with mass trying to define the silhouette/big shapes/ etc.

Here's an example, guuy's doing an enviro but this applies to everything, maybe you'll find it more intuitive than lines.

BlackDelphin Thanks for your input I admit the lizzard is not done it could use a lot more polishing and details.

Icecold Thanks Paul! I feel like I get the hang of things lately and it's pretty cool, I draw everyday no matter how busy my schedule is, even only an hour a day is good too.
The mechanical pencil is one of my favorite tools bro It has been with me since early high school I just love how clean and easy it is to use I don't waste anytime on sharpening pencils which is a messy job when you don't have a decent sharpener, (Yes I'm that poor that I can't afford a sharpener!) but hey once I buy a electric pencil sharpener I'm going back to H2-b4 pencils for sure I want to start practicing on shading and form.

That video is pretty cool. I like the approach thanks bro.

I have been doing interviews all week for jobs and should get an answer from Denny's tomorrow if I start working or not, hope I do though I need the cash!!! things starting to get real tight around here T_T

Aww wish i could help, but it's rather impossible as i'm not a millionaire myself
Just keep in mind, now you have a perfect motivation kick from life to work hard and get out of this bullsh*t someday as a career in art.

If you love the mechanical pencil so much then stick to it, but you should do it like alex pascenko does. clean lines almost no shading, as in my opinion this pencil is just made for contours. Shading with feels so wrong to me :Z

Oh and why to buy an electric sharpener, it's a waste of money true craftsmen do it all by themselves ^^ ! I sharpen mine with a knife and sand paper, to get that nice tapered point.

hey man , you have a good imagination ! now, i think you should work on your drawing and painting skills ! draw objects, peoples, everything you can, work on your line quality ! because you're neglecting the foundations of art, and honestly, a lot of artists are doing the same, so be better than them, work on your foundations, look at perspective, the most important thing ! there is perspective everywhere, on objects, faces, bodies, etc ! work your basics, i'll never repeat it enough ^^ Keep it up !

    Somethings cooking!

the ANGRY filipino hehe thanks man, I hope I learn to cook something tasty while I'm there

magicpudding Thanks bro, trying to keep the fire burning

BlackDelphin thanks! you know I do it all for you

Icecold I agree with everything, I think every tool has it's purpose and we shouldn't constrict ourselves to anything, BUT I am pretty pumped up for going back to pencils after browsing through DanielC's old sketchbook and the new one too, I go back there every once in awhile to remind myself how much of nothing I really know, and to get inspired he's sketchbook reminds me of what you can achieve with hard work.

    Sweron thanks mate

kikindaface thanks for dropping by man! and thanks x2 for the kick in tha butt too I needed that.
I created a doc file where I will put all the good advices I get from you guys so I can go back and refer to it at anytime, without you all I cannot progress so thanks a bunch!

I can't believe it but I drew 3 hours straight without getting up from the chair not even for drinking, and this is what came out, some color practice+blending warm up and then a chick refs used

Critique and help is always appreciated!

You're brave to dip into areas you're not very familiar with (environments). That's awesome Environments are hard, but everything gets easier with time

Great colour studies, too. I LOVE the colours on that girl.

    Hi Danny K,
Well...I've traveled through all the pages of your sketchbook.
While I see much improvement, I still see some areas that seem like consistent problems for you. One is, foreshortening, and as the other, being related to foreshortening is perspective. I have problems in these areas as well, and in my efforts to overcome them, I will share with you what I've learned:
It may help to think of foreshortened limbs as a box, or a cylinder in perspective. Use circles, and ellipses. It also may help to understand, that the forms overlap one another at certain points. One tip I have is to trace the outline of a foreshortened limb, via a lightbox, or Photoshop (Painter, or whatever you use) and then go back into that outline and construct the forms as if you were doing a Bridgman study. Look at the masses. Practice doing thumbnails, and small timed sketches of foreshortened subjects. Do this a little at a time. Eventually, you should start to understand how the forms relate. You can also use a carrot, or something similar and place so you're looking straight at it. Sketch that.
Perspective is more straight-forward. The more you practice, the more you observe in nature and other artists work, the easier it gets.I hope that you'll find that helpful, and not too confusing.
    Good work...Keep it up!

All this talking about carrots made me hungry so I went to the fridge and grabbed 2 carrots haha, but seriously thanks for the advice Zombie it helps when people notice what I'm neglecting and missin, that's where I can improve myself. thanks!

Keeping with anatomy studies, and tried to render a bit too, heads are still not there but they are getting better me thinks O_o

Thank you dear, always a pleasure to hear anything that comes from your finger tips
