The still life is looking amazing!! I would love to see you refine it just a little bit more, maybe work on transitioning tones across the ceiling and crisping the edges. Edges are very, very important. Keep up the great work!

So today was an interesting day, I had a photo shoot at a fast food restaurant ( I am a photographer, but I am willing to change my profession to a Concept Artist ) I was shooting food for the menu and good food! I mean fast food is awesome no wonder so many overweight people here in the States it just tastes good! any way after the shoot I took all the food and gave it to a homeless person who was surprised to get a whole bag full of sandwiches hamburgers chili and fries. at least one hungry person was fed today.

Not much to show today just a sketch and some more progress on BB
I fixed his waist and legs and I don't even want to say how much I worked on his right foot it's too embarrassing, but I take it as a very big practice in Metal drawing, color and value observation.
I also decided to set a goal for myself today, I will try get my first freelance job in 6 months from now, wish me luck!

Its incredible to see how much you have improved.. ive read from 1 to 7 and u can be damn lucky to have that mr. Icecold talking you through the way

Ofcourse you have to do it yourself eventually, And the enthousiasm en motivation is from your part! But damn you have improved, you have taken the critiques and tips into ur head an put them down on the paper/wacom..

If you keep this up you are gonna be great someday!

But you and my friends cheered me up a bit, and i even painted a bit today

About your metal bits and your 13h work, i really hope you won't stop now!!! I tend to be very disappointed when i succeed, and then i totally fail. I hope you're not like that.

Can't wait to see that recent update you're talking about!
ps. i saw you post in the what dose everyone look like thread, and seeing the recent head studies you did, i think you should draw someone from over there

No problem! I always glad to cheer up friends when they're down I would like you to cheer me up when I'm down too OK?

I will never give up on finishing that metal yellow head, well except if a nuclear war breaks out or I break my right hand, no way! I'll probably reach 30 hours by the time I'm done with him, but who's counting ah? LOL

Head studies Ah I am far from doing any decent heads I dont feel I get it yet but once I get that feeling I will try
motivation rhymes with frustration and they are both unfortunately part of being an artist, I struggle with these 2 fellas every day, just part of the battle, but life wouldn't have a meaning without those two wouldn't it?

Hehehek, That's the spirit bud! about that self portrait it may be awhile because I have many ideas in my mind and from knowing myself when I put fresh ideas aside they lose they're blink and it tends to rot in the "Ideas" or "WIP" section and my time is limited as it is so bare with me I will get to it evantually.

Also stop counting the hours!! LoL! If i would do that, i'd certainly slow myself down, not knowing how much i can actually take on.

I think it is time! Just do one already!! ;P If you will wait for the perfect moment,then you shall never start! you wait for a moment when everything will be cosy, healthy, new, you will know everything already? there wont be any point in practising by that time! you will have already achieved your goal haha! that is, if that pitch-perfect moment ever comes..
Did i make any sense? lol..i just went on and on xD

And i think if it wouldn't be so hard, if we wouldn't have to struggle , then it wouldn't be worth it.

Now!
The spoon is mega awesome!!! The little spot of colour and the little scratches and dots on the edges really make it look so detailed, so delicate, so crisp..so well done in two words.
The little bot isn't plain, but he isn't to special either. If you keep that sketch though, adjust his right wing a bit because it seems off, and to foreword; and speaking of, that facility elite has some proportion issues too; the lower part of the legs.

Yeah you're right, I am not waiting for the perfect moment though but your right, I'll see what I can do

The reason I'm counting hours is to see how better I get, for example it used to take me 2-3 hours to do a still life like that spoon it's down to 1.5 now
also in the industry time is everything, I am eventually planning to start working in this industry and I can't take my time with each art work it has to be quick and high quality, there are deadlines and the clients wont wait forever unfortunately
those sketches are just some scrap I didn't even wanted to upload they were made late at night with barely any thinking or design in them just scrap, I have totally different direction in mind. thanks!

I want to see exactly what you don't do perfect right off the bat, so i can point it out lol so you will try even harder next time

And i think you should still concentrate more on getting better, and only from time to time, when you feel like you need to know, then count the hours!
I for one don't understand to much these feeling you are having now..it may be to early for me, i may be to innocent about it lol, but all i care about is getting better and better, and i don't really think about how customers would want it..i just know i want to be better.. and better..and i don't compare myself with others either, i just know that i have to keep going, all the time!

So yeah! Sorry for babbling nonsense again >_<

Of course we all do art for the love of it but at the end of the day when you are out of your parents house and have bills to pay and family to take care of you start to think of ways to make a living of what you love, of course I am light years away from actually taking any freelance job but I am always keeping my goal in mind and the reason I started this sketchbook in the first place, become good get a job have fun

And I think your right about counting hours and stuff, thinking of the future.
For me, the competition is the main reason I ge any better. I draw more becouse I want to get better, than I draw becouse I enjoy it. (I still enjoy it thou!)
Everyone certainly dont work like that, we´re all different, but if you are that kind of person I think you should cherish it and use it to your advantage.

Looking forward to the staff-dude, if you find the time to render him. I know there is alot going on, so much you want to draw/learn, and so little time.

I've meant to post earlier, but it kept getting away from me!

I LOVE bumblebee! The detail you're including is awesome. The one area that's getting lost is your light source. Where is it coming from? *greyscale and zoom out check* That's the thing to decide on and change before you dive all the way into details. The details are fairly easily salvageable if you do have to change values in place though. Anyway, I'm major impressed with how you've managed to have all the parts interact so well.

Your facial anatomy is definitely improving too. Great work there. The spoon is lovely too. Just do more of them! Value over colour is what I would suggest for now. Colour doesn't matter as much with metal as it does with other things anyway.

Nice stuff here man, your recent portraits are great but watch the lips, they seem a bit off, in fact if you put your hand up over the lips they look great, especially the first one.
