It depends on what you're design is supposed to convey. For example, if you were to design a heavy, lumbering enemy in a video game, design 5 from the first 2 images would work.

For raw coolness, though, I'd pick 2 on the first image.

I was thinking about participating as well... got half way done last year then owned by semester work.

Quigleyer Its the new Daemon race, and the class is Daemon Lord, seems a really interesting comp this year (not that it ever isn't =P)
