so good to see you again Mila! Thanks for commenting
Luferndes- thanks so much - I have so many influences I don't even know where to start. I grew up on classic Disney features, and everything Glen Keane has ever done.
Also I'm a huge fan of Stephen Silver, Jose Lopez, Sean Galloway, the Etherington brothers, Creature box, and Miyazaki. ON a less cartoon-related note I draw from Bridgeman regularly, and draw from life at least 6 hours a week (Long commute)

Haven't got time to scan anything so here's a quick fx test I did for our WIP web series. We are going for something that's a little like buffy, where the evil creatures burst into poofs of smoke, or some kind of genaric goo

I dont know what to say other than "sorry I havnt been through here in a while!" but I love what you have done with the place !! do you mind if I sub this thread and come more often?? LOL

seriously I like what you do and enjoyed the trip from one end to the other, enjoyed the ray gun anim and the ballet anim, though I disagree with the pedantic guy who said it was wrong in the second twirl, sheeesh some people eh!?
I also liked the enviroments you do as well and the recent one with the 4 types of tree, I may use that idea and try it out with these piggy things that I'm doing.
It was nice to hear that you had done something similar, I like the idea that I'm not alone in the world hee hee hee!
After I have done the pigs I propose to do the three bears, red riding hood and possibly rapunzel all in the same sort of style and would appreciate any insights that you could give or any lights you want to shed youare welcome anytime mate.

Ok rambled on enough for now and the kids want feeding so gotta go !!

all the best and thanks for the input matey!!

Your always welcome Lightship Thanks for dropping by! I'll definitely sneak over to your thread from time to time and give what ever advice I can scratch up ^_^

Meantime- here's part 1 of 7 for my giant map - the progression from the smaller RPG map.
In theory, when this is done it will be multi-planed and have animated effects. That's why the water is so bland. 0 I also forgot to colour a chimney!! gotta go fix that

Really love you figures man, killer gesture and that retro space diner thing came out really nice, great materials
I think your adventure map thing however im not sure what that bridge infront of the castle is doing hanging out over the water? Just something to think about, youve probably done it for a reason anyway. Also like the hercules style rock curls, theyre always cool

Thanks TFsean! The hanging out thing will be a waterfall - the effects are going to be animated in another software once the other 6 pieces are done .

Thanks for stopping by my Scetchbook. It's really encouraging to get critique from you (I periodically go back and re-read the advice you gave me and every time it helps

I also enjoy keeping an eye on your work, even if I don't comment every day. There is a lot of good stuff here and these maps look great. Can't wait to see the final product, all animated and what not.

    Good luck and keep pushing.

    HI matey

I like the way that you work! when you hit a speedbump and think how does that fern look from a different angle, you stop the work that prompted the questuon and go off and do some ferns or whatever until you are happy and then go back to the work that started it. Its a good thing to see is that and a good way to work and improve, I try to emulate it myself with varying degrees of sucess.

character sheets look good too, all the best and keep up the good work.

Hiya Lightship ^_^ - I try to draw a bit of everything, and it's kept me in "Hodge-podge jobs" You never know when you have to animate slime, sludge, flags, leafs, pants, dogs, raw meat, lol. Nothing makes me happier than someone saying "What are we supposed to do with this shot?" and the reply being "send it to the compositor." The only downside is having to fight the FX lead for the really cool stuff.

    Thanks Revenebo

Today's offering is some commute sketch samplings, been feeling pretty meh about the latest stuff. I've been getting kinda wimpy - so much so that I had to adjust levels just to darken stuff and make it visible. gotta work on that.
Also, inspired by Dracken - Here's my stack of sketches! 5-6 years worth? Didn't keep much before that.

Just popping in to say that is my favorite sketchbook I've seen so far. It's a huge inspiration and I'm going to go through every page

I love the way you draw humans, from the Disney-style faces to the dynamic and expressive bodies.

Thanks for taking a look at my sketchbook

Wow, I have to say I love the form and character in your sketches. The environments are awesome too, but I'll critique that the coloring looks a bit fuzzy to me - like they were all painted with a soft brush where it seems like there should be harder edges. Was that intended? It seems to throw the feel off for me.

    That jackalope is fricken awesome!

Thanks Freakmod, I was going for speed more then finesse lol. I agree with your comment though, and I'll try to find the time to spiff them up a little before I put the whole map together.

I have sooooo much work to do I don't know where to find the time to get it done!
I spent a bit of time rigging today, and realized I still don't have hand charts done yet >.< So today's offering are a rough hand chart, trying to throw together as many poses as I could find reference for. & a little bit of subway sketching.

Ha, that is one awesome looking pile of sketchbooks. I just hope to have as many in a few years

As much as I enjoy digital stuff the feel of paper is just nice.

What else to say... Good looking drawings here. I really like the watercolor stuff, it really looks different and very nice.

I look forward to seeing the final results of your multiple projects.

Nice work! Tons of expressive sketches with good economy of line. Love the watercolor work. I also like what you're doing for the 11 second club - great draftsmanship on that work. The vector girl drawings also look good and remind me a bit of Disney's Hercules movie.

Critique stuff: The digitally colored landscapes don't work for me at all. Much of it is too muddy and lacks volume. Still life studies may help - they seem to be helping me in that area. The one with the pyramids has some scale issues that look strange. The individual buildings and sand texture look good. But you have a wagon the same size as a large building, and each of those stairs must have a 4 foot rise. You should also consider making the sand around the river occlude it somewhat so it isn't so flat, especially where it curves. Some variation in line weight could help a lot there. It would also probably help to have the edge of the world dip in around where the river becomes a waterfall. I've attached a quick sketch to show what I mean.

Dracken - thanks D - I'm sure you'll pile up just as many - just a matter of time really.

    Mila- Thanks ^_^

SmallPoly - sigh, your right about the tonal work. I have such a daunting amount of work that I've been rushing it >.<. The proportions aren't meant to be realistic, as much as symbolic, so I wont change too much of that - but I will definitely revisit the tonal work, and do some more research on the river bank. Thanks for the kick in the pants .
will123will - thanks, the dumps get big because I keep slacking on posting daily! I really should pick a day of the week and make weekly posts a scheduled habit.

Iven - thanks - Currently I'm working on an animated tv series for kids, doing composited and classically animated FX. None of that work can be posted online until the shows have been aired, so it will be a while before any of it gets up here. The stuff I have been posting here is for a personal project, myself and 2 friends are working on. It's an animated web series based on old RPG games.

Today's dump are some commute sketches- which will soon come to an end because I'm moving closer to my job. bonus 2.5 hours to my day -but will take a chunk out of sketch time. and some doodles - cuz all work and no play...

    Hey Rhubix

I have noticed you are taking a lot of time give advice to loads of artists doing animation style drawing. Even taking the time to draw illustrations of what you are explaining.

I just wanted to say thanks and that its really appreciated and helpful!

    Hi matey

    Good luck with the move!

I hope you will still find time to wow us with your magic LOL! I loved the doodles up ther and will go back through them when I get the chance. That flying Island thing wibbling about is very distracting when you are trying to write a reply in here too, looks pretty as do the others but its very distracting my mate. Could you please give it a bit more movement next time as its just bringing on eyestrain at the moment!! ouch!!

Also loved the moose / beaver dude and the water colour splashings above him too they were rather nice especially the expression in the moose dude.

oh well gotta rush sorry, busy busy busy.......... all the very best mate and keep posting
