Ela's Sketchbook - Critiques Super welcomed and Desired!

I am more than willing to receive a harsh critique, in fact, I Prefer it! You don't have to compliment when putting forward what you think/observe to be incorrect. That's one of my favorite things about my instructor, Ed Binkley; He will look at one of my drawings and critique them to the point of destruction, and that is what makes an artist grow.

I can promise the same in return, though my eyes are not quite as trained, it is always good to receive a fresh eye.

    -------

I'll be posting a lot of my practice drawings, concepts, and other things too. I would adore some critique and suggestions

Thank you so much for looking!

This first post involves some new figure drawings.

30 min studies for my figure-drawing class

Unfortunately, the images are extremely stylized and that really takes away from the pictures themselves. Hopefully in the future I can change that by NOT DRAWING THE FINAL LINE MORE THAN ONCE. A great rule of thumb to create clean AND descriptive linear work.

This is Jen, she's a fantastic model and usually does extremely playful and dynamic poses

Ophila my OC - she's part of the Shadow Realm, something that I'll probably elaborate more on the more I post in here

    Hi Ela,

Your sketchbook is nice, keep it going!

#1 First pic: Ogre with girl.
I really like the pose of both characters, espcially the girl. But the arm in front looks a bit weird. Maybe the position of the shoulder and elbow are not correct? But overall it's a really nice sketch

    #2 First pic: Man sitting
Something is wrong with his pelvis. To me it looks too small.

    #3 First pic: Girl sitting
Maybe you exagerated too much the curvy lines in the back. Maybe not ...

    #6 Third pic: Girl standing
The render of the cloth is f**king awesome great job!

Take note that you are way better than me so I might be completely wrong with my critiques. Hope it will still help you ...

Also, a self portrait! My friend hates it because he thinks it's hideous haha.

I dig your self portrait, and like your illustrations...I think you could benefit from doing more life drawing using a directional light source to get stronger contrasts of light and shadow. This will help you get mass and volume especially as you shade from the shadow into the dark light.
