So been doin studies faithfully for the last week, but still had time to treat myself to a few little projects. The OC i've been workin on little bit everyday for the last 3 days. Something for valentines day, i came up with tonight. Again Not really my style, and i have no experience with sequential art, but i hope this makes sense. i thought i'd try it, clean up and colors to come. Card is 3 pages, 2 pages standard and middle panel insert. Crits and comments welcomed, enjoy.

This is for design a character group. Shape challenge then make a character out of it. Original shape drawings here: http://neueoic.deviantart.com/art/DA...-1-2-153326855 . I picked this one because i thought it had the most potential as a full character of some sort. That said, i have done little of any full character or turnaround stuff, im new to this, and this isnt really what i normally do, but i think it's cool so ima try it.

So line work is pretty clean, still have to shade the greyscale flats, the suit is just a mock up, i don't know what i ll have for clothing and accessories just yet, sorta still throwin ideas around, if anyone has any ideas, feel free to throw them out. Crits and comments welcome. Enjoy.

More of my Valentines Day card, simple coloring and that's about it, not going to put much more time into it if anymore. It's VDay here in NY now so better on time then late. Happy VDay!

    This weeks shape challenges.

T-REX from group shape challenge. Seems a few people liked it so i thought i'd take some time and go further. Lines, Colors, and a crop from the full illustration.

Hey. Nice sketchbook. I like the character design at the top, it's looking solid. I'd like to see how that turns out.
I like the T-rex as well, but you might want to rethink the background. It looks like it was an afterthought/rushed.
    Keep it up.

I'm loving the colors on that TRex. It just pops! Good to take some breaks from studies from time.

@zerdron, Thanks for takin a look.
@purplegoat, yeah pretty colorful, thanks again for stoppin by and commenting.

So been forever since i've been able to update. I found and still am fighting with carpel tunnel, so didn't get to do any drawing for a month or so, and then my doc said i could but had to be careful and not draw for hours at a time, so i've been able to do a little bit here and there, taking breaks in-between and trying to change up my technique a bit more.

All but the last of these uploads are for a design a character group workshop on deviantart. These are shape challenges and some character ideas from them. I'll have to get around to do more of the challnges when i get time.

First one is the most recent (i think) shape challenge, didn't really get into those ones, but got the dwarf idea next picture down from it, so not a complete loss and some experience to boot.

After the dwarf i used a character from shape challenge 2. Used the base model twice, once for a little jester costume and then a aboriginal concept. Have to color the jester some time in the future.

Last 7 little wips/ideas are from this weekend, i still have to come up with costumes and hair and accessories for the women, also make the one in the first frame smaller and such. You'll get a better idea of where im going with it once they are rendered a bit more. The tree one i want to add a bent up tree house sorta thing maybe make it a night scene and have some glowing fairies coming home sorta. Used some generic clouds i had just for set up but i'll remake the clouds on them also used the stone pillar in each, just to see what different things would look like. Might push the pillar farther back from the frame just to show a bit more of scale. Also change up my samurai ninja scene a bit, change some sizes and stuff, might see a few more samurai/ninja stuff, thank my sister for that;p. Anyways i think that's all i wanted to say, if you have any ideas or comments or crits please feel free to express them. All feedback is appreciated.

Sorry so spotty with the updates but with no net it's hard. i'll also try to interact with the community more, sb drive bys and crit forums and contests, this is a great community, we should have one on every block here.

Work in progress update 1, well 2 really but i'll add a process image sometime soon. This is from my last sketch dump, decided to go a bit further, still a bit more to do. Not sure about some of the colors just yet. Crits and comments still welcome at this stage, thanks in advance for taking the time to take a look.

Edit1: Ok so fast crit comments from one person, desat some of the green, darken the BG (behind tree), change up a bit of the colors to the clothes, add more variation of forest colors, and take out or edit the sun light.

Figured i'd do some more on another one while i wait on different places for feedback on the other WIP(above). So added some different clouds and some more forest and worked out most of the pose, no details or clothing. Added some more rocks and such, some floating island forest out there and just generally blocked things in. As always any crits and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for takin a look.

Did some more on the clouds and the rocks and the lower plateau and forest and stuff, umm so yeah, fun pose and she more colorful. As always any crits and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for takin a look.

So decided to update again, haven't worked on too much, what ever i get i suppose, working on studying by myself, i'll be workin in real paint and maybe even some clay just to mess around, but i'll post my progress of those. So a few things, first one is a few 30 min photo studies, not that great but it was fun to just do something, values and such aren't too good though, then a tattoo design, 3inch thumb on paper, lines and colors in PS.

Next was supposed to be a portrait sketch, it's low res turns out they wanted it finished, so i suppose it close. Painted from a 2 half x 3 half old picture so the color is all messed up, just painted what i saw, rather what i could see of it. Lastly is the COW 200 challenge sketches, Alpha Predator, i hope to picka few and take them further. that's about it, more to come.

As always thanks Marian Rowling for taking a look and commenting, about the only reason i still up date this beast.

so a few things for an update, my cow200 (original concept 3 picks(added last cause i forgot), entered piece and revised piece.). Then some random ustream sketches graphite on paper(nothing serious, screen shots). Then my cow201 born bad sketches, these were done while streaming, paper/graphite, 3 x 4in thumbs. Oh and random sketch of a dragon, probably fix it and paint in ps, i'll sketch a bit more on it though.

I would have liked to just sketch in photoshop or artrage but my comp won't run progs and stream at the same time, it's old, so i'll clean these up in ps and post that in a few days or so, then pick from there which one to continue on with.

Marian Rowling, well you've taken the time to stop by and say something so it's worth it to know that at least one person sees my art. Thanks again.

My creature of the week 201 born bad entry. I thought i had 2 more days to work on it, so i speed painted this tonight ina few hours, probably take some time and refine it a bit more after this.
This nasty little bastard doesn't wait to be pushed out to start its rein of terror.''

And messin around in artrage a bit, we'll see if i finish this guy, chances are no.

So quite a large update i suppose, i had some traditional studies(which im doing along side digital stuff, by myself) i was going to upload but no idea where my camera is, so another time. Most of these are speedpaintings with some friends. There are 2 that i decided to take steps further into proper pieces, you'll see that progress here.

1: Quick speed-painting, challenge was ''supersonic amphibian'' 1 hour give or take time to show my wips. This is just a one version of it, and low quality, i didnt get to design the creature very much, kinda just doodled something in to have there. There is another version below.
Ps. Title inspired by Jaime Jones ''Bird Snacks''

2 Small 1 hour speeddrawing challenge with a few friends. You'll notice the genzoman-esque waves+wiki, the idea seemed to work well with the composition and subject.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melusine
I went with the 2 tailed serpent idea, if i was to redesign this id add tons more details and make her more fishy and fix the pose and things,we'll see. Which you'll see below.

31 hour Mage Dungeon Guardian Speedpaint Challenge, low quality, nothing i'll finish.

4Hairy butcher speeddraw, about a hour and 20 mins.
5From a speedraw, originally 1 hour, i spent another hour to 1h45m messin with it, low quality such as speeddraws tend to be.
Edit1, took some time and edited his feet/shield from he original. + another hour.
6 Edit 2 of the Water creature sp from above, worked out the design of the creature, bg and fishes are to come, lighting comps below.
7 A few quick lighting mock ups for my Fish Snacks illustration. Pay no attention to how messy it is or if i went over the creature or other details, the point is the lighting/atmosphere.
    1 original
    2 full daylight(noon)
    3 sunset(bout 15°)
4 cloud cover(mid afternoon) or can be converted into a night scene
Im partial to number 2. More of a daylight scene, the creature just playin in the water catchin fish. Next time i'll put more thought into my illustration.
8 My Serpent Maiden concept sheet, Original speedpaint at top, Concept 2 plus a quick lighting mock up, and concept 3 plus its lighting mock up. I posted the linework of the separate concepts so you can see the details, these are done at a mid quality resolution so the lines aren't that clean, that'll come when i start the final illustration.
9 Close up lines from my serpent maiden wip. I tried to make them differ as much as possible, ones more eligent and ones more well pointy.

So here's a few more doodads.
1/2/3. A few speedpaintings, some sort of blasting creature i don't recall the topic, ''fallen cleric'', and ''Golem of steel''. 30-130 min challenges.
    4. Some sketches while streamin with some people, nothing much(hour to hour n half a page depending), done on 8x10 sketch paper, so most of the sketches are small(4x4in), mon-insects, tues-amphibians, weds-birds-thurs-fish-fri-mammals.
    5. I took the animal studies a step further, insects, amphibians, birds-reptile-mammals. But this time I gathered what info i could find on their skeleton(exo), internal organs, and muscles systems, some have some outer and some other things throw in. Most are labeled(not that you could read it), some i couldn't find a lot of info on so yeah(hour to find info and sketch this part). And then did about a 45 min or hour little sketch of each. Done on 9x10 sketch paper(some of it was cut off scanning sorry).
    6. A illustration i am working on, inspire/influenced by kekai( btw im no fanboy, no offense), someone linked me to his work(blog maybe) saying they liked it, so i tried to do a piece from the format/composition he used, also a limited palette. Not exactly done, and need to get it outta the way though.

Hey Izer great updates, I like it all. I really appreciate your tonal study drawings as I find you create a lot of drama with them. Good work on the animals they look good. You've obviously being work hard. I'm probably a bit too old to know what or who kekai is but your illustration inspired by it looks fantastic. Great colours and composition. As always I've really enjoyed these updates.

Im trying to get better, everyday, i study mostly in graphite, im also a beginner as far as education goes, im sorta working with blunt force everyday, trying to get a good base to stand on. Digital is great and all and there is a place for it, but my heart really is classical. Haha Kekai is a concept artists really stylish id say, digital painter mostly i believe, he uses lots of movement and mostly a limited palette from what i can tell, real loose artist. Ive never seen his process or anything but that angel piece came out alright. ah the animal drawings where fun to do, i really like to know how things work, i'll try to do some locomotion studies when i can, how the body moves from within if i can. Maybe study some video of animals(sorta limited in animal life here). Thanks for taking the time to comment as always i appreciate it.
