I think you have a very nice start, and I think everything works well except the face. I think orks have bigger heads and smaller ears. Right now it looks like a grot head on an ork body.
After you fix that, adding some severed heads, ammo belts, and other orky accouterments will really help bring him to life.

Whoa, I've got to start working on something else for a bit... this thing is driving me nutterz, haha. Anyway, here's the latest. I've included a close up of his face and stuff. Crits appreciated!

Alright, a definite improvement. There is still loads of room for other orky trinkets, but that can wait until later. I would start detailing all his gear, adding scratches to the armor, neat little things like that. Also, take the power weapon wires off his choppa. That makes no scene for an ork!

I'm thinking his skin tone is a little outrageous in the saturation department. For this I used a less saturated yellow/green. I hit it with an overlay layer of red, turned the opacity of the layer down until i was satisfied, then erased away at the lighter areas. Then I painted on top. This is just a suggestion in a way you COULD go, or you could keep your current color- I'm just offering up suggestions. You could stand to make it even warmer, now that I look again.

work on the character based on a hierarchy of focal points that would lead the viewer's eyes. Usually (not necessarily) a chatacter's main focus is the head, leading to a couple of other secondary focus areas (armour peices, maybe).

You can achieve the levels of focus but changing levels of detailing/ value range/ color tempreture... you use to render a cetrain feature. right now the face is very flat in terms of values. ofcourse since this is a WIP you may already be planning on doing this

@ Duman - Yep, big improvement for sure. As for the orky details, I'm getting there dude! Got to mainly add some more battle damage, and a few other little nick nacks... I will loose the power weapony bits on his sword... they were shitting me actually

@ Quigleyer - The colours are a tad outrageous at the moment, yes, haha. I definitely want to keep the skin looking pretty darn green, so I'm going to have to fiddle around with it somehow to add some warmth, like you said. Thanks for the colour demo too!

@ pitin - The face is still in the making, more or less. So as I said above, I will work to get it much fuller in terms of colour. I'd like to have his head as the focal point... I hope it works out!

Yeah! "Pretty darn green," haha.

Just remember to not only go from light to dark, but as the light hits objects more and more that they become "warmer." Your blue/green at the moment might actually work for a really good cooler color, so long as you layer it so it gets warmer.

That's just something I meant to say, but apparently forgot to last time.

Well... baby steps. I am moaping over this one, taking much too long. Lots of things also distracting me and I procrastinate a lot too.

Anyway, here's the latest. I've tinkered away on some things but mainly I have fixed the skin (so much as I have completed it so far) and made the head a bit more centerpointy.

I am liking the detail to the armor, and its looking very nice. Something I just noticed is that everything about this guy is nice and orky, except his rifle. That looks way too mass produced/well made and orderly to be an ork weapon. Some reference could really help orkify it.
