I am a beginner at painting and I am self-taught. I started on the Iphone app "Colors!" last year and this year I moved on to a tablet and Painter X. I have not painted traditionally before so I have to learn as I go.
Here is what came out so far.

can you put your i phone picks in here as well cause they're really great its cool you got a sketch book'
You're learning fast indeed. It looks like you already have some experience with traditional painting.
The stylized tree forebodes interesting things, please post more in that style if you have!
"NYC: time of day reflections"
I tried ArtRage today and although it is very limiting indemo version, I liked it.
Each snapshot has a meaning which I hoped to express. Monday, for example, is a heavy day, Friday city is glowing with expectation of crazy nightlife, and Wednesday is that middle of the week when your head spins from all its business.
I hope you will see the meaning in the rest of them.

Wow, those iPhone paints are unreal... I need to get an iPhone!
The angel you did looks fantastic. A lot like coarse glass sculptures do in the light with all the little cracks and such. Really cool effect.
You're obviously doing well with whatever you're doing, so do it twice as much!

Hey anastasky ,great sketchbook ,the first thing that came into my mind when I watched your drawings is that they have a really great composition, and they're very creative .The studies are coming along great and you seem to draw a lot,so no problem here.Keep this pace and you'll be great than greater!![]()
Please visit , comment , rate and crit me. I will appreciate it and I like making friends.
Thank you for visiting.
Thank you for encouragement! I am studying any free time I find.
I sketched my friend but can't decide which one to proceed with. Also, i'm struggling finding a brush that is appropriate for skin textures...any advice?

Hey. The skintones have improved, since your first post - good job.
I like the last one the most (blue background), because the contrast between light and shadow is smaller, it makes it look more life-like.
I dont know much about brushes so i can't give you any advice on that.
cheers !
Fantasy flowing lol. From imagination, obviously...day 20 learning to paint with a tablet.

Was trying every single brush in painter x and had absolutely no plan, it's really just a color palette.

The face is not finished since this is just a study of a pose. However, i don't think i can bring more realizm to the face, just don't know how : if i sharpen details it disconnects from the body, but blurry feels unfinished. Any advice?
Edit: changes I've made based on your advices, thank you so much!

Sweet use of colors and light.. I love the dolphin!Show us more!
Cheers![]()
Look, see! Nifty art!http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99803
Hey! Check out my blog here
See if you can get some more detail on the Eyes (add some shading/shadows) - detail out her Ear and her nose. It might help make the face pop out more. You could try a photographer trick - Sharpen just the Eyes and the lips - leave other features soft.
*And if I may offer a minor crit - her Right Foot (closest) - needs to be longer I think. I think her side/back (under her arm) might be a little thick too but I could be way off too
You did an amazing job with the color, lighting of this piece. Very impressive stuff you have here! Really enjoyed looking through your SB. You have a good handle on color and light. Keep up the hard work and keep em coming! Looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you for crits. I will definitely fix it.

Ouch, Painter froze and I didn't save it...
3 hour self-portrait wasted...
I was getting excited since i didn't even look in the mirror and BAM, all for nothing, it's all pixelized. Argh!

I really like this one (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1237957762) and the last one a lot. Great tones and lighting. I would maybe like to see some more refined edges on some of these though.
Keep posting.
I like Scorned Mona a lot. You have good detail, volume and definition for the far eye and bridge of the nose, but the sense of roundness goes away as you look down toward the mouth and lips. I have trouble with this area too.
Also, the next time that light starts poking holes in your skin and escaping take a look in the mirror. You'll see that it's actually a little more blue-ish.![]()
Take a look at my series of in-depth critiques, like this one of Salvador Dali's hidden portrait of Lincoln.
Scott's Sketchbook: Check out my sketchbook. Will swap C&Cs.
Beautiful updates! Really liking the colors too! (Sorry to hear about the 3 hour loss in painter - That sucksI hate it when it does that
(Really like the lighting in that last one too!
Keep em coming!

Thank you for your comments!
I am in hungry studying mode now, so I adapted a rule one painting a day, usually after work. That's why i don't have them polished. Also I don't know yet how to refine edges fast, with blender it takes a long time. Any tips?
This one is my very first attempt at enviro.

Since it's a sketchbook i've decided to post few sketches that are just that, sketches...I'm satisfied with their roughness and i dont have time to finish them, as always my real job takes priority.
"City moments" and "Tahitian beauty"
100% from imagination, didn't use any pose reference, i'm exercising my mind.
