ROUND #149 :: FEMALE SITH LORD

DESCRIPTION

Pretty much exactly as it says. A female Sith Lord for the Star Wars universe (read: the movies).

Pretty open, but a description is required. Just one or two lines is fine.

As a small disclaimer, this is all just for fun, folks.

Yeah, this is a good idea, but please remember just the movies!

I don't want to see characters meant to fit in the expanded universe stuff, i want a Female Sith Lord that could easily fit into the live-action movies.

(so the clone wars animated is out too.

but you can still draw them cartoony if you like.)

Care to expand on that? Do you just not want her to be a crazy species like the selkath or something more?

Zaxser, no, I don't care about the races, though the Sith/Empire (if I recall correctly) had kind of a bad view of any of less human-looking races... But that might have been information from 'Knights of the Old Republic' (I can't recall), so...

If you note in the brief, I require a description. So I don't want any "Luke's evil half-twi-lekk grandaughter".

Also to keep to the movie-era with weaponry and stuff.

edit: No, it must have been because no one in the empire in the movies (at least the original trilogy) is anything other than human, except when they call the bounty hunters in, and they don't really belong to the empire, per say...

Hi, this is my first post here.
Ill try to get into this weeks CHOW. sounds very interesting.
But let me ask you one thing. if the deadline is the 2nd. When will the FINALS thread available? (For CHOW 148, the deadline was 22nd, today is the 23rd and still lots of final art is missing in the FINALS thread.)

Gynemeth78: The finals thread is usually posted a bit later on in the week (around thursday/friday/saturday). The deadline for rounds usually has some leeway because of all the different timezones people are in, but Daestwen is usually pretty regular with putting up the poll. New rounds are always posted on sunday, before the old rounds closes. Hope that helps you

Darth Maul was Sidious' initial apprentice in the movies (it would be unreasonable I think to limit the conceptual range to Episodes IV - VI, since iirc the Sith were not mentioned in the initial trilogy) and while humanoid was definitely not of the standard human stamp.

A small logical problem with confining the concept to the movies' universe is that by the rules of that universe a third Sith Lord could not exist -- Sidious followed the "Rule of Two" that required only a Master and Apprentice.

Not arguing against the topic, I like that a lot, but it seems odd to say "movie universe only" when that universe is so heavily informed by material developed outside the cinematic treatments of "a galaxy far, far away."

Masque, I think what they're trying to say is just dont get too wacky with the expanded universe stuff. Basically (correct me if Im wrong mods) they're just looking for a badass female dark jedi (sith lord if you will) who could easily be slipped into the movies. Nobody is going to be checking you on your Star Wars lore so I wouldnt worry too much about it.

I havn' read (or played) Force Unleashed but isn't that based on some secret apprentice of Darth Vader? Anyway, was thinking of having mine in the old republic era (when there were tons of Sith). Oh btw, the Rule of Two book is awesome!

Anyway, people that need more info should check out wookiepedia. Here's the link to various weapon types

I guess I read a strong emphasis on "movies only," which provides limited choices for character templates, there being only four Sith Lords portrayed, two of which were basically not up to the title -- Maul was killed by a padawan, after all, and Dookoo(sp?) was a dupe. To "easily" fit into the movies it seems that a female incarnation of Sidious or Vader is kind of what's expected, and that sounds limiting in terms of character depth.

Just have fun with it guys. Don't get to close to the ins and outs of the finer details of the movies.

Just think of how you might see/interpret the portrayal of a Sith Lady in the context of the films. For example look, if you can find them online, at the images Ian McCaig painted for Attack of the Clones. He did a number of female Sith concepts that didn't make it into the movies. They don't have to be humanoid either, but try and bring a depth of character to them. I'd love to do this, but I'm not going to have time.

Personally I want to see Darth Vader queueing for lasagne in the Death Star canteen! (No, not really!)
