Like you guys told me, don't worry about the updates over the holidays as long as you make sure you're drawing on a regular basis. It's when you don't draw that there is an issue.

Here's an update of a couple of quick studies from tutorials. I've been way too busy lately with holiday stuff; definitely going to get back into the groove of things within a week.

Some quick digital studies again. Haven't been able to get to a scanner yet still.
These studies are from following some tutorials (just started really doing tutorials finally, so I should start improving in the digital area soon enough)
First one is blending practice, second one is a rough sketch from another tutorial

Heya Jeremy
Awesome studies bro, since I can't do any of this yet, I can't really criticise it, other than to say maybe do some more portrait studies, similar to your last piece here. The initial blending practice has stood you in good stead for it I think, your skills are definitely showing on the practice blended pieces.
Hope that helps.
Keep well bro.
Edward
Like kungfoowiz said, I would keep at the portrait studies.
definitely cool portrait right there. I love the colours. very realistic colours. definitely would like to see a few more portraits.

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments so far. Sorry I haven't been updating on here for a while, I really need to get to a scanner but don't yet have access to the graphics lab (I'll try to this week). I will have a lot of drawings to put up. I'm finally settled back in at college so it's time for me to get back into the groove of things and work my ass off again. Here's a photoshop sketch I did tonight;

You're getting better with these portrait studies. Keep them up.
Hey, it's decent, although I think the right eyeball feels a bit bigger than the left, but it's all good! =)
Okay, finally got to the scanner. Here are some studies from life and imagination drawings.
self portrait (will be doing a lot more of these soon)

cloud practice

Loving your pen and pencil drawings. Clouds seem a little blurryWhen I look at the top one it seems to fall apart, it doesn't have enough defined form to it.
Sketchbook - freakmod wants to learn how to draw really well
great work on your anatomical studies, Great proportions
I'm liking the mix of colors and linework.
more from life man. Soon never comes.
Thanks for the advice guys. Yeah you're right Dan, Starting tomorrow I'm planning on doing more life studies of still lifes, people, and landscapes. I'll probably be spending a lot more time in the drawing room doing still lifes especially since Fencl has those good lamps and all those objects and the drapery.
I still need to do some still life studies. I'll probably end up doing a contour of a still life for Drawing Fundamentals, but I took some pictures of the still-life so I could do some studies. (Run-on sentence?)
The studies are looking good, I really like the arm ones. I have a lot of trouble with that myself. What are using for reference?
About the cloud study... If I were you, I would go much further with these studies. Try not to just be settled with getting the basic idea of the clouds down, but really try to see if you can create a perfect photo-real painting. If you need to make it perfect, you will end up thinking about a lot of things you never will think of in a more loose study, such as edges and subtle colour shifts, and you'll understand the forms better.
Keep up the good work!
Heeey, Jeremy! You're doing really well with the figure studies! O_O Man, they're lookin' good! Cloud studies I agree with others about. But you'll know when you're really getting into it when they start looking all fluffy and possibly edible. XD Sorry, that's partially my belly talking. :3 Anyway, keep it up, you're improving greatly!

keep up with the studies, looking good!
Any Updates? You're slacking!
yeah i know, but the fact that I can't get access to the scanner doesn't help lol
The sketchbook is looking amazing. I love your lines and the perspective and all that sort of thing. I didn't really take a long enough look to give a good critique on anything. just wanted to say sorry for disappearing like that, I finally got my OS running smoothly so I should be back now.

Your figure studies are coming along nicelyAnd the last portrait is looking really good.
Update.
I've come to realize that I need to start drawing from life a lot more in addition to my studies, so plan on seeing still lifes, self portraits, and other life studies/ imagination drawings too in the future posts.

hey thanks for stopping by SB! ooh some great line sketches, think some work with proportion will help the figure sketches greatly, keep up the hard work!
Hey Jeremy
You are putting a lot of hours into your work, this seems clearly evident from your last few updates.
I would agree with you. I recommend that you should begin studying from life as soon as possible. I feel that it's giving me a better understanding of form. While the books I'm using are to understand the anatomy and the proportion.
When drawing from life I use my (albeit limited) technical knowledge from the books on anatomy and proportion to look for features in the model. In other words I'm trying not to copy the model directly, but rather trying to interpret what I can see, and what I know, and then drawing this.
Your lines are confident and clear.
Edward
