This looks professional to me. I like the nice touch on the bandage on sock to give him additional character.

On the alien character I think the head is brought forward more and the chin more sharp. Like this:

I haven't looked that much on ref since I wanted to mess around on my own, but that pic should help. I like the colors as well. Maybe I'll make mine darker as well, or have some part of it hidden in shadow.

Okay, so got home today, and after watching Andres Jones Fine Art Vol. 1 I wanted to try out to do something similair.
I tried to use the lasso alot at first but I wasn't precise enough to get them shapes right so I dropped it kinda. Made more basic shapes in the background. Although it is a good technique for laying out a base.
I made another one before this which I just painted over with this one since I wasn't happy with the results. There was some nice colors but the motive wasn't interesting.

Finally got around posing this bastard. A friend of mine created this very nice rig I could play around with.
Also put some 2D stuff in my portolio in section "Other Works". Just to show I do other stuff than 3D.
Felt I wanted to do that sooner or later. I just hope it won't bring the rest of the folio down.

Did some kind of coloring I usually don't do so colors turned out rather wierd. Still I find him kinda cute.

Been revisiting an old basemesh for a male body. The goal right now is to pimp it up with a nice topology and definition of ears and basic musclegroups so there won't be any sculpting required for that.
After that I will make a female version of the it and start on a character I've had plans for for a while now.

Still a long way to go. Please feel free to comment the shapes. Topology is stilla kind of a mess.

My only suggestions is go easy on the sharp filter in photoshop, it tends to flatten everything. Another option is use to sharpen brush to just select areas to polish.

Thanks man, will have that in mind. Will give the sharpen bush a shot. Never thought of it actually. Perhaps with a combination of a custom bursh would create some nice effects.

Been mostly working in this this weekend. Some 2d as well but with less sucess.
If I'll continue on this one I'll drop the robe and expose the body more for the sake of practice.
I was thinking of having a bunch of projects going on at the same time to make things more varied. I need to get more 3D stuff in the portfolio but I don't want to have to drop 2D completely at the time.





I've noticed my biggest problem with faces is the nose. I never seem to get them right and have to do alot of adjustments before I can be at least a bit content with it. I also seem to end up with the same type of nose as well.
I think that type I'm trying to achieve is nice but then all my faces will look the same.
Of course the only right solution is to practice on it but if anyone might have any tips I will be more than happy to hear them.

Sorry for not updating in a couple of days.

Been spending my evenings on my male "basemesh" and it's starting to drive me crazy.
It's starting to get more like an anatomy study which is good but I think I've got to stuck on trying to achieve total realism on the shapes and risk of ruining it it.
Will have to look again with a fresh pair of eyes tomorrow.

May not look like much but I've been tweaking everything back and forth and whatnot. Crits very much appreciated.

Kay, so looking back I see I screwed up the face big time and the proportions I got before where much better imo. Will do some major fixin.

A pair of doodles this evening/night. Roughly based on ref on Legion, previous singer in the band Marduk.
I would be pretty interested in making a character looking like that. Sort of a realistic version of the Brütal Legend style.

I actually almost never draw nowadays, mostly because I don't have that much sparetime and then it gets to digital painting since I got a higher interest for that right now, but yeah some drawings would perhaps be in order. Can't risk getting rusty on it. Never know when one might need it.

The digital stuff is improving, esp the colours, but I think your anatomy still needs work.

oh man, that last one is great! Maybe put some more darks in the bottom of deaths robe, it kinda looks like his legs are stuck into the pig. The random speedpaint withe the decapitated head holding monster is rockin' too.

Nice, I like the dark and gothic theme. The skull looks perfect. Personal taste I wouldn't mind seeing not just monotone colors, but it looks great as is. Most of the time you just see death on a horse but the decaying pig is nice twist.
