Vega tribute piece. With UPDATED IMAGES.

OK, so I'm a first time poster.
Anyway, this is a partly done picture of Vega, as you can see, and I'm having a little trouble in posing bits of him. Mainly his missing foot and his back arm.

I've spent some time tinkering with the pose, warping and twisting various parts round, and I would be most appreciative for some comments, crits, and general help from you guys.

He's obviously not finished, and the way I've done him up to now has been in a little bit of a round-about way, but that's besides the point. There are areas that will be brushed up quite a bit, within what is allready coloured.

I have a couple of ideas in mind for the background, but I would honestly like to hear what you guys make of this so far, and where you would take it from here.

    And an updated progress image
Some things have been rescaled to a degree, even if it's not hugely noticable.

OKAY, so this is another update, they can come thick and fast when I put my mind to it. He now has a neck, as was pointed out to me that neckless just didn't look natural, his rear elbow has been de-sharpened, and the hair has been brought to a nicer, browny/orange tone as opposed to the brighter yellow.

    Thanks very much.

well by the look of his legs and the drawn in back foot it looks like he is standing firmly on the ground. If thats the case then maybe you should sketch in some ground and horizon lines to make him more grounded, should help give you a better idea. Also, the foreshortening looks alright, but the head is too small, and theres something about the shoulder i can't put my finger on (maybe its just me).

i hope this helped, its lookin good, keep it up

    Yay Vega!

Okay dude, down to business. I'm not going to get into the whole pose problem, which I think you should certainly reconsider.

The anatomy issues are killing you right now. The hand is too big and his head is too small. His arm is ENORMOUS compared to his body. His torso is too small for the size of his legs, and one of his legs is enormous, even taking into consideration the perspective effect you're going for. His shoulder area is really where you're having trouble. His bicep doesn't properly connect to any of the ligaments in the armpit area.

I think you need to spend some serious time revising the anatomy of the figure before you progress any farther with this piece.

Keep up the good work dude.

Thanks Grizzly, that does help a fair bit.
For the background I was thinking of having his chain link fence with a little bit of a Spanish bar scene going on behind it, and his back hand running up the fence. I think once I sketch it in, it should make the whole thing look a little more coherent.
I was most unsure about the foreshortening, so it's good to know that it's looking OK. As for the head size, I see that now, thanks, I'm not sure if it's the lack of hair or not, but I'll keep that in mind while I'm putting the hair in. The shoulder does look a little funky, I'm not sure either, he sort of looks like he's wearing an armoured shoulder plate size-wise lol.
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

Thanks Dread, I see what you mean, I had a fair bit of difficulty getting the leg down, I wasn't sure if it was working or not, as for the hand and the head, I agree there too, hopefully both of thoes shouldn't be too much of a problem to fix, and the leg may take a little more, but shouldn't be too much of a pain to sort, how is it too big would you say, length, thickness? I think the top/inside portion of the thigh is a bit strange myself, I'm not entierly sure on how to rectify it.
    Cheers for the crit.

I'll ask this here, aswell as looking in the photoshop section.
Can anyone tell me how to scale/distort/etc a marqueed area on multiple layers in CS, or even if it's possible?
I've tried linking the layers, and that enables me to move the whole of the layers, but not a marqueed selection, that only moves the selected layer and not the linked layers awell.

Thanks for the comments so far guys, been very helpfull, much appreciated.
I had a bit of a scaling session and did some general resizing of things, though that doesn't seem to be hugely noticable. I've also worked more into the image, and, though I've added his cage, I'm still yet to sketch in the backgrounding, so he's still floating... And footless.
Please excuse the horrid watermarks, I uploaded it elsewhere for some abuse, and it's not quite as trustworthy. Anyway.

The muscles aren't reading as shapes yet.

Thanks. The back arm is funky, I see what you mean there, the rest of the muscles fell in to place quite nicely, I tweaked them a bit, and have finished the image. It looks better at a higher resolution, the first images posted were 25% of working size, the final one is 50% ...

I shall get it uploaded soon, thanks all
