    You'r landscapes sketches are great!
    But it seems that you'r not realy looking at the clouds..but just drawing
    what you think it should be.
    I think you do the same things with human faces.
    Your drawing have a nice feeling to them.
    I think you should work on observing.
    ..
    I promise to draw every day, and try to post everyday!(Changed)
    Being inspired by some of you guys,
    and thus decided to pick up my pencil everyday!

    I'll post any junk I make, in hopes of getting much
    constructive criticism and LEARN! (:

    Sketchbook!

    Chompo: Yeah, you're right about the not really observing thing. I'll start off trying to draw what's in front of me, but then end up just drawing what I want to see for myself.
    Thank for the tip! I didn't even notice I was really doing that until you just pointed it out.
    I'll try and work on that more.

    Thanks for your comments in my sketchbook, annalee. I love your full figure studies, they are very accurate and clean, wish I could do that. I want to see more digital stuff. If you are reading this you are in front of your computer... the wacom is right there... go on... you know you want to!

    Good stuff in here.
    Your sketching style is very rough, but you've demonstrasted that you know how to really clean up a finished piece so that's not a problem.
    The lightbulb is very good, but it's casting a bit of shadow on the wall right behind and below it which is impossible, that area needs to be a bright spot on the wall.

    i like your landscapes. i'm too scared to do them. all that space. i don't even like when a model is standing upright. one tip for you is: when you have something further off in the distance, make it a bit duller. kind of desaturated. take a look at pictures of mountain ranges or big cities. the dust and moisture in the air makes a bit of a haze on further objects.

    Hey! Yeah. I totally agree about the anatomy studies. I will put more of my time into that than I already am. I just got a hold of one of Andy Loomis's book. Although I have many digital copies of them, I can't really bring those anywhere. So, with this hardcopy, I think I will be showing a bit more improvements. As for the tones, I press really hard to get the darkest color in my drawings. I don't know what it is, but the scanned pix really does not do my drawings justice, in this department.

    So it's been 9 months since my last update and since I last logged on here.
    A lot has happened in the past 9 months.
    Here are a few things:

    - First off: Happy New Year!
    - In June my then boyfriend enlisted in the Army
    - In August we were happily married!
    - In September I quit my 3 year long job as a retail associate at Nordstrom (I hated that job)
    - In October my husband left for basic training
    - Also in October I got a another job at a small Russian take out place that a couple of our friends owned (love this place way more)
    - In December and January my husband got a 2 week holiday break from basic training and came home for a bit
    - In February I flew out to Georgia attend my husbands graduation from basic training

    Now to bring you all up to date: My husband has been transferred to his new unit in Kentucky. I am currently waiting around for him to find us housing in the area and am looking forward to hopefully moving from California to Kentucky sometime in April.

    So that's that. Like I said, a lot has happened in the past 9 months. All for the better though and I couldn't be any happier with my life than I am now.

    I have been trying to sketch a few things here and there in between all this madness, but I haven't been to successful at it.

    I will post another update with some actual art on it a little later on.

    It feels good to kind of be back on this site.

    Hey guys.

    Haven't been on here in almost a year. Yikes!

    I've been busy though, just with life in general.

    Here are a few updates:

    2010

    - In May, I packed up our tiny apartment in California and moved 2,000 miles away to be with my husband at Ft. Campbell, KY.
    - We found a nice two bedroom apartment right outside of the base for half the amount that we were paying for our tiny apartment back in California (yay for big difference in cost of living!).
    - In June, my husband left me for three weeks for training down at Ft. Polk, Louisiana.
    - In July we took a cross country road trip back out to California.
    - On August 16th, my support, my love, my life ... Deployed for Afghanistan.
    - In December I flew back out to California to visit family and friends for the holidays.

    2011

    - Happy New Year!
    - In January I took a small road trip up to visit a friend in Kansas City, KS.
    - Again in January, a good friend of mine from CA came out to visit me. We took another small road trip out to eastern TN to go skiing.
    - February marks 6 months since my awesome husband deployed to Afghanistan. R&R is right around the corner though!

    So, that's whats been up with me so far. Lots of traveling around.
    Expect a few quick sketch updates in the next couple of days.

    hey Zenobia thanks for visiting my sketchbook. I looked through yours, I enjoyed the diversity of subject matter in your book. Don't worry about the big gap in time, get to drawing and get to posting.

    On another note I wish you and your husband the best. Im in the Air Force myself so I know how deployments can suck.

    I'd like to point out that my old PC crashed a few months back, so ever since then I've been using my husband mini netbook.

    Which doesn't have Photoshop on it, unfortunately.

    So don't expect any new digital sketches or drawings from me until I can afford to buy a new computer.

    Alright, so since it's been a long while since I've actually sketched anything out on a daily basis, I figured I'd make a schedule for the up coming week and (really) try to stick to it.

    So, here's next weeks schedule:

    Week One (2/28 - 3/6): Human Anatomy Studies (Female)

    * Monday - Full figure studies (15 each)
    * Tuesday - Head studies (10 each)
    * Wednesday - Arm/Hand studies (15 each)
    * Thursday - Feet/Leg studies (15 each)
    * Friday - Facial Expression studies (10 each)
    * Saturday - Fully Clothed Figure studies (15 each)
    * Sunday - My choice.

    Im also going to keep an eye on the DSG (miss that place!) and the Spartan Camp challenges and try to work some of those in if I have the time.

    It's time to get my butt back in gear! HOOAH!

    Hi Zen, thanks for commenting on my sketchbook thread, you have a cool one here too. I see a progression with your mythical creatures, they are kickin' some serious butt. The giraffe/dragon/dino creature looks crazie good, that one strikes me best!

    On a side note, you seem to have the tendancy to go over your lines a lot which is cool for loose sketches but you can also do without. Attempt to converge your points, which may help complete the form you are trying to show. And as Chompo suggested, strict observation. That goes well with any studies and you will see the payload in your future imaginary/creative works (in my opinion). Keep up the awesome work! I will check back again.

    Insert very insightful quotes here ...
    - get back to work!

    Hi Zenobia! Thanks for posting on my sketchbook I made a little tour through yours as well!

    I really like the animal studies and your recent human pose drawings are fantastic. Your schedule for assignments is a good idea; it's something I could take for an example and practive myself. ( Sometimes I find it hard to draw every day )
