Greetings everyone.!
How all ya doing?

I am a 20 yo guy from Greece who just discovered the world of concept art and decided to show some of his nooby work^^

I like almost all fields of concept art but especially enviroments- +1 for urban- and industrial design.

I bought a small pen tablet and i just discovered its use on "speed painting".Not fully although.I still need a lot to learn, but i am sure i will learn it here^^

Here is just something i was planing to finish it but i thought it would be better to begin a new one.(so its unfinished) The result wasnt what i expected cause i dont know any good tips for the "add detail" factor.

any feedback will make me more than grateful.

Ela man!!!

First of all welcome tou CA.
Thats a good start here and you sure have to post more.
I will suggest using even more hard edged brushes so that you will only blur the far places that you dont want us to focus.

I like it in general and i think you are on a good way.
Also when you feel study something more, check out a little more about atmospheric perspective.It will give even more depth

just some random stuff and basically brush-lights-darks experiments..

The next post will be an enviroment i develop for some days now and i want to post a finish job.
and yes, i am big fun of HARD edged BRUSHes club. They sure rock!

Nice.Very nice mood.I also see some depth in here and that makes my eye flow normal in the piece.
It just need sharpening(not by tool) but by the amount of brush strokes.Thats something you will understand if you keep up, and you are close pal!!!!
Keep training until we will wanna live inside the enviroments

Hey Biomecha,nice start here with the tablet ,I wish you good tidings and drawings along with it ^^ ,I really like the enviro with the cave ,gives a nice feeling,you should do more speedpaintings from reference photos,it helps a lot

,and I dunno if this sounds helpfull but study about composition and keep drawing,I like what I see and surely what I will see ^^ ! Good job and keep improving

Your opinions/feedback is something more than precious to me and also its a motive to continue^^

so...

i will just post an unfinished job here, like an exercise in the "background section" and also just like Rostas metioned , in the composition area. Basically only the middle tower is half-way finished for the detail part.And also now that i see it, the left tower is about to colapse :p

Anyway,here wiiii go

The first thing I see is that your paintings lacks depth. This can be achieved in many ways, but a good place to start is with atmospheric perspective. I see you have some knowledge of it, but it will become even stronger if you keep in mind these things:
- Add more elements in the background so the atmospheric depth gradually becomes more and more present.
- I think it helps a lot to squint your eyes every now and then, in order to see the whole image clearer. This way its easier to decide with colours to use etc.

But the major thing you really need to work on is lighting. Light shows form and depth. I suggest looking up Scott Roberson's DVD on lighting. I found it very helpful. ( thegnomonworkshop.com ) More instructional DVD pointed towards environmental painting that I really like can be found on the same site under Dylan Cole and others. If you don't have the money there's a ton of tutorials here on conceptart.org too. Search the net and remember to draw a lot.

I also agree with the previous comments that you should study some photos. You'll learn a lot.

Very nice man, i like the enviroment.By myself i will keep saying about definigment of the image but actually thats something that will come as soon as you keep working, and btw you said its unfinished so no problem

Just keep working more.I know we started Uni again

but anyway we have to keep fighting

Very nice concept.Keep working on it.It still seems rough and that makes it confusing.Try to see some other good enviroment artist and see the way their creations seem.The variations of their colors, and mostly the perspective.
You do well so keep up!!!

It throws nice volumes.And it seems that you used more hard brushes.

Here i did some quick paintovers to show some things.
First check proportions(analogies kai tetoia,px swsth topothethsh pragmatwn)
Then check perspective of the general forms

Really a work of another level, i am glad!!!!

Great environments. I love the spiky look especially with the vertical crafts.

There are some good tutorials for concepting characters on Youtube; basically the meat of it is that you make a hard featureless black silhouette, and then you cut in details and lines in white with a fine brush.

The main brushes I use are the first set of chalk brushes-- they give a nice hard edge. I don't mess with variable opacity brushes, that way lies madness.

Nice portraits. Different styles and there are different things about each of them that are good. The guy's hair looks really real considering that it's a sort of watercolor look, which I really like. I kind of think the hair could be shading more than it is.

With the girl: is she wearing a nose ring? If so, that really needs to pop more because it looks like it's part of her nose. The side of her nose without the nose ring should probably be redrawn, it doesn't look right. I like the way you did the skin tones on her, and the hair on her as well, although again the hair should shade her skin. There's also a sort of flatness to the whites of the eyes in both of these-- with the girl they look way more white than they should, even though they aren't. You could try putting just a dot of bright white highlight on the white of her eye and that might show that her eyeball is a sphere. I think maybe on the girl you could push the values on her skin tones more, darker darks and shadowing from the hair.

I still like your spiky landscape style, let's see another of those.

Its nice to see you experimenting in a lot of things

.Remember the less black you use for shading the better

(put colored shadows in the color panel(on the pop up window with the colors) move down and right to get shadow with more color intensity and darkness, just a fast non standar way

second(aggelikh?) have better shading, thats what i believe

Yo, always fun to see new people try a go at the ropes, some very nice starters here, though I think there are a few things you can do to improve quite quickly. First of, do you have a tablet? If no, then get one! Secondly, there is a good bit of studying that needs to be done. I recomend getting a hold of Itten's Teachings, that is about colour, and maybe Hogarth's anatomy or something like that.

Anyways, keep rocking, and you will get better!

Ok, i followed some tips from this place and..... voila.

The next one will be an urban landscape though, like the spiky Esperia from up there but in a more..... detailed version

I practice nowadays a lot.

Finally a 100% pure HARD BRUSHES sketch!

There are many issues with the anatomy although , but i guess i will correct them on future sketchs!

I am kinda glad i reached new technique after i read many posts here on this forum.
