Portraits have some really nice values. I particularly like the one on the right. She has some really beautiful lips!

Aw i hate it sooo much that there is nooo atelier no lifedrawing classes here, i would really like to improve my anatomy knowledge, ok enuff of whining.

You guys remmember that sketch that i did some time ago? Well i finally sat down and spent some time on this piece, it's still in a very rough stage, blocking in objects, etc. I plan to add some more walking corpse in the background and some artificial lights later on. Anyhoot this guy was not around for a while so he's pissed and hungry, run ya'll flesh sandwiches!

Dude my advice go to the basics and abuse them open those bridgemans and loomis and all the other guys and study them until you puke, ye ye I remember what you said about studying from books, but how do you think Miles, Hannes, cole.. and many more got to where they are hnmnm?>? you really think they all could afford to go to art classes and ateliers and hire live models? dude the books stick to them, first thing I'm gonna do when I come back to my studies is exactly that.

In any case, the wip looks good so far. Watch it with his neck thouhg, not to make it stiff looking or twisted. But then again, you might be aiming for that.

hey man, i don't know exactly where to begin or what you're looking for. so i just did a few notes on the last figure drawing you posted. i think you're doing a great job with your digital paintings already--in a lot of ways, i think you've got a head start in me with your color choices. it's just a matter of pushing your values a little bit more, and developing a little more confidence with your lines/shapes. but you're really close. the difference is just correcting certain curvatures, and pushing certain rhythms to tie the whole thing together. "big picture" kind of stuff that's hard to focus on until you get really comfortable. just hang on and you'll get there.

wuuuuushuuuuuuu .... aaaa. this one is pretty neat , i really like how the body looks, in this stage has some sort of mysterious disturbing quality, it wold be really nice if you can manage to keep that fresh and take a couple of parts, throw some more detail, or not, but for a more complete and ineligible look you will need to clean a couple of regions, to sharpen some edges , establish some perspective on the arm and maybe detail as well

Bgrrrrrr don't do it for any one else and not for me but for yourself, when you study keep your mind on the material in front of you instead of what will you show on your thread, it's studying first showing second not the other way around sorry if I'm nagging I want to see you succeed instead of going in loops.

I remember looking thru your SB last autumn, not really liking what I saw..but now a half year later its packed with intresting stuff! Your progress is one of the most impressive on CA. Really.

The enviro on page 19 is a great start. I would have expected alot worse for a first try.

EDIT: I agree with what Danny said above. Its sooo easy to get lost in how studies "look" that you dont learn as much as you should. I spent most of my first 4-5 months paying too much attention to how it looked, and I later realized that I didnt learn what I drew, I just drew a shape, trying to ape after the shape that I was using as reference.

krel Glad to hear that, but that enviro is not 1st it's third actually


The problem with me is this, at first i loved to render i did render render, render, then i was doing speedpaintings for over 6 months and i liked it so much, that i lost the passion to render. Now i need to slow down and try to merge the two.


Here's a movie shot study i did today, 40 minutes of painting, 2 hours of trying to find a more or less matching color heh. After all it was more photoshopping', than painting

nice study dude, it could use more color variety especially on his right sleeve, try to add some harsh highlights to make the metal more realistic.

Great textures and amazing colour skills! Keep pushing the pure figure drawings. I want to see that colour level also in the pencil stuff. Would be closing the difference of levels, because your colours seemed to be levels ahead. I would pay something to have your colour skills. Keep on posting!

I think your attempts at the gesture drawing Villipu style are great and with more practice will only get better. I am going to try some gestures when I get the chance. I hear what your saying about preferring to work from a live model as well rather than books. It's kind of the reason I have been putting off starting to draw the figure. I think a combination of both is ideal rather than focusing on one. I am lucky that I have some life drawing classes in my City even though I have to travel far for them which is the reason I am yet to go. You just have to do the best with what resources you have I suppose.

Danny_K Ah, you are right about the sleeve, but adding really hot reflections wold draw the attention off the eyes which are my focal point.

So ladies and gents i've had 2 rough days, when nothing was coming along, both in drawing and had some health problems also. I've managed to focus and get clear state of mind, so i'm back!

Some pencils from that fail days and some a bit less fail'ish; but i'm recovering.

P.S The last one is obviously still not finished.
