its make'n me hungry i think its great /question did the banna really make that orange hue on the very outter rim bottom if so do you know what caused it the source light mabe hmm? cool diggz
real light is crazy and sometimes wierd things happen maby next time cheers on the piece
Not much help I can offer. Just wanted to say this looks quite delicious.Really nice job.
The only nitpick I have is there feels like there should be a shadow in that area between the cantaloupe and the watermelon. Maybe I'm reading the angles of the melons incorrectly though and a pocket of light managed to slip in. Totally possible, but I'd double check the reference just to be sure.
"This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy." -Douglas Adams

My goal: To get good enough to post in the Finally Finished Forum.
The values and form are real nice on this.
But I'm not sure if there's enough of color temperature shift between the light areas and the dark. And fruit tends to be somewhat translucent, which is a tough effect to get right, but you might get something out of looking at Karen O'Neil's paintings here: http://www.karenoneilpaintings.us.vu/

Orange Hat, you're right, I didn't notice that one, will fix it up tonight.
Thanks for the link Kev, it was quite helpful, and I think you're right about the shift of color temperature, I'll see what I can push out of it tonight. An unfortunate oversight at the time I drew this, I didn't consider how much nicer it would be if the watermelon were on a bit more of a dynamic angle so we could see more of the sub-surface scatteringOH well, live and learn right?
Thanks for the extra eyes and words all.
took me a little while to get back to this, but here's the update after the critiques

good update. The yellow on the bananna is causing a bit of distraction, the hue is probably slightly off and could be a little more subtle. Also a tendancy to use white for your hightlights deadens the colour of everything else abit. Your elipse is slightly off in thetop right aswell
