Here's a model I just finished with Maya and Zbrush. I've always admired the quality of the work here so I thought I'd post too.

nice start here. i feel the pose is a little static... needs to be a litle more dynamic i feel. try finding some reference of a woman in the pose you're lookin for, and see how the weight is distributed in the legs, and also the subtle forms that come from that. a twist in the weist and slight turn in the head would add a lot.

...seeing as I lost my entire reply just now, I'm going to abbreviate this.


Awesome detail in the hair, good construction in the face and upper body.

Cat's forelegs are a little too narrow. They have similar bone and muscle constructs as a human fore-arm, so the muscle should be wider near the elbow and taper out near the paw.

Folds in the fur across the chest look too regular. Make some larger, scatter them out a bit.

Woman's leather armor is too smooth. give it some texture, wrinkles...looks kinda like plastic right now.

Woman's calves are odd. Outer curve of the calf is nice, but the inner curve is concave. might just be the angle, if so, try shooting from another angle. if not, bring out the upper part of the inner calf a little more.

Great feedback. I'm going to work on those issues. And I might try turning the head and torso too, to get a more dynamic pose.

A great start to your model! I agree with some of the anatomical issues that have been highlighted by Rheywolf (especially with the cat), but i would also point out that not all fantasy artists stick entirely to 'realistic' anatomy. I say this because your work reminds me quite alot of Frank Frazetta, whose characters are often depicted in extreme poses with muscles bunching and flexing in more of a naturalistic way, as opposed to realistic. If you haven't already, i would reccomend doing a google images trawl on Frazetta and looking at how he establishes a sense of dynamic and power in his works!
