Hey thanks a lot Walid D! Yes a photoshop portrait is a good idea, ive tried doing as much traditional work as possible since i feel i need to work on that the most but im feeling its time for a bit photoshoppin' soon

It's a pity threads like this receive little attention from people whilst others get way too much of it. I think you are doing good. It wouldn't hurt if you wanted to play with Photoshop, but still try and keep with the traditional media if you do.
I'm no expert on heads, but like in my own work, It looks like you could do with understanding the structure of the head and how to render form properly. This might be of some help - http://www.gwc.maricopa.edu/class/bi...ll/skulltt.htm Draw it, study it and try to understand it.

Thanks very much Burl! As of studying the skeleton, thanks for the link (might come in handy) but right now i have acess to a cranium from that sort of skeleton they use in biology classes and was thinking of drawing it in different positions.

That photoshop portrait is really strong - in fact, it outshines most of your pencil portraits. You seem pretty fluent with photoshop - why not do more portraits with the program?
A common theme I'm noticing with your pencil portraits is that they seem a bit heavy-handed (not all of them though). Try to draw in the lines for the portrait as lightly as possible - so that it's easy to fix misplaced features early on. When shading with the side of the lead, why not use a blender to smooth out some of the value transitions.
Reserving the white of the paper for your brightest highlights is crucial with pencil rendering - though you seem to have already picked up on that with your last update.
The first drawing from post 15 is pretty strong. Though you say it's quick, the proportions are handled nicely (much better than the most recent post). The only real advice I can offer is when you plan on rendering all of the values, be sure to not rush yourself. Some of the darkest darks feel almost hastily applied, and the proportions are a bit off.

Nice evolution, man. I like your pencils. Well, you said you found it easier with photoshop...maybe is because you made a "painting" while your pencils are more or less all drawings. Painting is always easier somehow because is "copying" if we are doing a realistic thing...but drawing, unless we get rid of the lines, and we render everything with tones and values....will be kinda "abstraction copy" wich means much more stylism, and right decisions. Thats why is good to learn to draw. (but dont be like me...I got a nice level with lineart...but I am almost a "baby" with colour, because I didnt train properly for years.

I hadnt realised that but im glad you explained it too me. I agree about it being good to learn how to draw! I have neglected pencil for a long time instead working only digital but now as ive been working pretty much only with traditional for a while i actually feel a lot more comfortable and secure drawing lines. Before is used to draw tons of lines until the whole sketch was pretty muddled up but now i try to use as few as i can and i find it alot easier! Thanks QETALVIANNice evolution, man. How fast is fast? These look pretty good, and your recent portraits are definitely an improvement. One thing that I think will help you is to not try and draw every single strand of hair on your head. Notice how Loomis uses light and dark masses to define the hair. Think of your hair as being composed of groupings of hair, and not a million billion fibers. Also, that's a good book.

Well i kinda switched between the two of them, when i felt stuck on one i shifted my attention to the other so i cant really say how long it took, but i would guess between 20-30 min. I'l try to keep track for future portraits but its a bit hard since i tend to do about half one day and then finish it the next, mostly so i can look at it with less "clouded" eyes
Thank you very much for the hair advice. I have not been happy with how iv'e potrayed it so far and i have been thinking of other ways to do it. Now i know how to proceed
