I have restarted the sketchbook, about a year later. I'm deleting the original images that introduced the thread... just because they sucked hard ) I'll try to change the first image here (and the thumbnail) periodically. The original text follows.

I'm starting my sketchbook today. I have been lurking around the site long enough, always procrastinating about making this thread. It's been almost two years! Oh dear...

But I've finally made up my mind! Together with updated devianart profile, I'm taking the (baby) steps to become an illustrator someday.

My first post brings two little sketches I did this weekend. It's not much but it means something for me. I'm going to create habit!

The first one is my sister working in her room. She didn't want to pose and thus I agreed to do a back portrait. Heh. I wonder if the fact that she was tense has been pasted on the picture... Done with pencil!

Second one is a quick practice on light/darkness, using the simplest figures I could think of. Done with pen!

I had this book on drawing animals lying around, which my sister gifted some time ago. I promised myself to learn some animal anatomy someday... and here I am! I wonder if its that smart to start with animals before humans... but oh well. I need a bit of everything to improve, I think. Also, it's fun to change the subject from time to time to prevent boredom

Woah, it's been a year... a lot has happened since then!

The most important point is that I joined ESDIP, an art school in Madrid, Spain. Consequently I moved there... and so far, so good. It's been four months since I started and finally I got myself a borrowed scanner. I'll be filling my sketchbook from now on! It's my New Year's Resolution for 2010

Here's my last work for "Colour" class, where we're taught how to express ourselves through painting (duh!) It might appear silly to many, but I'm exploring new frontiers with this class. I had never done a full painting before.

your cartoon are good yeah, the metro sketch too ( which would be really hard I guess)
the self portrait is good also, try to put more details in the eyes and all the head features
keep it up!

great stuff! drawing from life is certainly working out for you!

some pieces seem a bit flat still, maybe you could have a look at construction of shapes to give them a bit more volume. there's great stuff by Bridgman, Loomis, and Hogarth that'll really make your drawings jump off the page

the drawing with the explosion is good, you had to make a drop shadow on the flower Keep it up

@NeonDuck Thanks! Actually I have Vonderpoel's book on anatomy picking up dust on my shelf. I'll give it a second chance soon indeed.
@mpdpsy Thank you! The background is a bit... ehh.. It's about a renegade mutant that teams up with a mutant-killer to get rid of the (guess it) mutants. Storywise is crap, since each page is a different assignment by my comics teacher. He says "ok next page is gonna be fight" and I have to make ends meet so the story is somewhat credible. I'll be posting the fight pages this week.
