Perspective and Detail practice

Hey all.

I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and starting to focus more on detail and more realistic looking work instead of the cartoony 'stylized' stuff I've been doing up until now. These will eventually be painted, but hopefully I can get some good pointers on how I sketch right now!

I already know that my sketches are either too simplistic, or have tons of sloppy detail scribbled in carelessly. any advice on how to bring out a good looking, clean sketch would be fantastic!

Please don't hold back! I'm desperate for some good critique right now, since this is such a new area for me :X

your lines are hairy, find one and stick with it.

LOL! Hairy, there's a perfect word for it! I don't know why I get so messy and indecisive, it's a habit I'm really, really trying to break. Thanks for the feedback!

An attempt at doing linework that isn't so messy and fuzzy-Redoing one of my earlier sketches LOL

She doesn't have the long hair yet because I want to focus on her other features first, and it would very much get in the way

(BTW would it be appropiate to talk a bit about the character and her story a bit here, or should I take that to a new forum?)

I made some minor changes, but I'm still liking how it looks much better than before.

BTW, how do you change the thread thumbnail?

i like your first image. Great take on a usual monster attack.
can't get a good look at the last ones cause there a tad bit to big. But i really like the posture on them.
