    One day project: Tina

So, I'd been struggling with motivation. Coming here, looking around, thinking "I need to make something, I need to make something", but lacking the ooomph to take on a project. I decided to combat this lethargy and fear of commitment with a little one day project.

Just something small that wouldn't take over my entire life; just one day of it. I must admit, I cheated a bit and painted her today. But, all the sculpting was done yesterday.

    This is Tina.

    Nice work
Reminds me of an evil muppet! The eyes look good , I like the look of her mouth
it has that realistic "I wouldn't want to stick my finger in there!" look to it

Thank you both for looking and your comments. It's funny you should mention the eyes. I have a small store on ebay selling plush animals. When I start making someone, the toys start quaking and shaking. No one is safe. They have the best eyes. These came out of a Ty Triceratops. He was all soft and cute, and fuzzy, and huggable. They look much better on Tina.

What I love about your work is the juxtaposition of humor and terror. Everything above the mouth is so "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" with the wide doll eyes. Everything in the mouth is straight out of a flesh-sucking, limb-chomping horror fest. That's not a tongue you want lapping at your face to wake you up in the morning for breakfast.

I agree with Bongsplat: Keep your fingers far and away from those teeth.

For a one day project, this is a success. Lots of fun (and unnatural) elements coming together at the right time.

    Hi Noa K,
Thank you for your comments. Tina is made with just regular old Super Sculpey. She has a wire armature that I epoxied inside her shell to give her body some stability. Her eyes are from a plush Ty Dinosaur (think Beanie Babies). She is wearing a pink satin bow from a teddy bear. She is painted with several very thinned down washes of acrylic paint, and two coats of Crystal Lacquer. Her shell is a real shell that I dry brushed with a water-based varnish to bring out the color a bit.

    Thanks,
    Willow
