Well dude, the only way to be more creative is to ... hmm .... create There is no magical tips that will help you to create badass illustration ! I was in the same situation than you a few weeks ago frustated about my lack of creativity, and searching some way to be better ! but the only way i found is to practice more imaginative work ! I'm sure that you directly start by making your enviro, or character, without any preparation ! So for now, just draw thumbnails, it will help you to be able to put your ideas on paper, then, when you will be at ease with that, you can start to do more finished work ! Don't forget to also make studies ! there are lot of things to study : anatomy, perspective, color/light, composition, design, obviously, you have to learn to draw, to paint ! So the best way to start is thta you can begin a sketchbook, you will have good critisms from really good artists ! So hurry up, go drawing !

Well, so show us your stuff ! About what you need to study, it depends of what you wanna do! do you wanna draw badass characters ? so learn anatomy, study clothes, drapery, all that stuff and don't forget to draw a lot, if you're more interested by environments, so study perspective, color light, study other environments ! Try to clear your goals, and ask you why you wanna reach them ! it will help you mate ! for design, it's not that king of design, more about graphic design, there are some principles and rules to apply to have good designs . here are the main principles :

And also some composition rules for your enviros :

    haha burgessboy!

i think a lot of us have done more than our fair share of drugs and had some interesting life experiences, there's no doubt about that. creativity and imagination is either something you have or you don't.

it is a way to re-wire existence and show that new version in form. some people are scientists, others artists, musicians, dancers, what have you.

it all begins with being fascinated and amazed.

What do you mean by creativity? That you have ideas in your head but that you can't get them into art.
Or that you don't have those ideas in your head (that's more lack of inspiration i guess).

The first is mainly solved by just trying things.

For the second I would start thinking outside the box. Do things you've never done before. Or look at things in a way you've never looked at them before.
Think in pictures instead of words.
    Or in smells. Sounds.
Or just go to an amusement park and have some fun. Only to realise on the way back that the scarecrow in the field near your house is a good subject for a painting

Check out other artist work, find something that really "inspires" you and go off that energy. It's easy to get caught up in the learning process and letting dynamics, proportions, anatomy, and structure weigh you down. Look for something visual to open your imagination up and feed off that. This sight is a great sorce of for imspiration!

Seems like every artist goes though this at some point or another. Don't worrie your not alone. I'm going though it now. I've found a few ways to get past it so far, it might not work for you but its worth a try. Don't think everything you create need to be a finished aww inspiring piece. Just draw and draw alot! Look at others works. Create things you wouldnt normally create. Myself, I focus on people and anatomy in almost everything I do. So Ive started to study other things (animals and environments ect) from there I pair them with what I'm good at (people) And TA DA, I seem to be coming up with some pretty neat stuff. I know that might not apply to you, but maybe you can take something from it. Oh and Ive been studying other cultures and things which is also helping me feel more creative. I guess the best thing you can do is broaden your horizons and become familiar with as many things as possible. Its been working well for me. Best of luck and hang in there!

Hmm, you want to stimulate creativity, which comes from the mind. Stimulate your mind. It makes sense. Your memory is the only thing that can fuel your imagination, so put a ton of great stuff into it.

Look at amazing art, read a lot, write down your thoughts, do puzzles. All of these things are good for your mind and thus for creativity. Write down the most random things. Draw your ideas, whether good or bad; just get them onto paper in thumbnail form.

Sometimes people just have bursts of creativity. Don't let those moments pass you by. When you feel creative, write and draw whatever is on your mind.

To find inspiration you must have passion, and to have passion you have to be excited, that's the first thing i think you need to learn.

practice by just looking at random objects, finding them amusing, take pleasure from there subtle curves, sharp shadows, the way light hits them. as well as from the things they can offer you, right now im looking at a speaker, it smoothe elegant reflective speaker and its specled gray, the fact that it brings music and motviation into my life. It just makes me happy

    Practice doing this with everything.

then, you need to open your mind to other outside influence, i dont know if youve ever realised this but, when you really do somthing really above par its never you doing it, it just flows 'through' you asif from a higher source.

The 'higher source' would be your subconscious, and for your subconscious to be truly amazing you have to feed it. We do anatomy studys to internalise the human body, We study perspective to be able to naturally manipulate our perception of 2d space and we practice colour to be able to resonate with our interpretation of reality, but these things inthemselves dont create art, you have to find the reason you want to create art (what excites you, ie the passion) and then feed that into your mind.

For me, the passion comes from story telling. I find myself examining people as they walk past. I really love it when you catch somone, just a glimpse of there face and you hold a snapshot of there expression in your mind. Then my mind starts to work, i start to think "what mood are they in?" "what caused it? did i cause it? does it affect me? how do i gain advantage from this? " My mind lights up and runs and runs with ideas, and from this i build storys

for example, today a man came into our store. The man was either drunk or high and he had cuts all over his face. He wanted to return a mirror frame, saying there was no glass in the mirror.

now if that dosnt inspire creativity, wha the fuck will!

ok, hope this is helpfull and not just me rambling

Sometimes we bind ourselves to what we think that is a good drawing, or a nice style, and we chase these ideals quite blindly. Sometimes there is a inner, spontaneous way of creating things burning inside, and we don't let it flourish because we are too worried about doing really nice stuff and such.
My own experience was throwing all my goals away, and drawing in a pretty "insane" way, without sketches and formal studies, but with LOTS of observation and gesture. When you go off walking on the streets, or when you go to the beach, or to the country, or when you're in your room, it does not matter: look, observe a lot. You don't even have to draw, just look with great attention to this, or that.
You'll find out the things you have learned to look will sprout in your drawing exercises.

Well, in fact I don't know if it will happen to you. Happened to me! Just thought I'd share the experience.

    Peace and light everyone!
