Thoughts about my DW3 character concept

Hi. I took part in gameartisans.org Dominance War 3 contest with this piece and since I didn't rank even in the top 50 I was hoping for some feedback to improve my work.

Any kind of critique is welcome, but mainly I'm interested in crits about the actual character design and technique. This is after all one of those few times I actually got to use a tablet for painting.

i love the color scheme so far and your values are working nicely IMP...however i would consider lessonig his right arm, the green one, and maybe move the highlights to the forarm to make it pop more. and make the green bi-cepts and shoulder smallerIMP. becuase the way it looks now i don't see the rest of the body supporting that arm IMP

The blue outline is too close to sky colour and making it look disjointed when it's a fairly dynamic picture. Should his toes be that big!?

I like it, its a cool character and the colors work really well. I would like to see a better cast shadow, and some light highlights could help pop him out a little. Adding a moon in the back could be a cool addition.

the artifact is incredibly reminiscent of the Nightmare character in the Soul Calibur series and his arm thing weapon.

I love this at first glance ... but as I looked closer, I saw a few mistakes that made me grimace:

    1. The right foot looks too big
    2. The left hand at the back is anatomically incorrect when compared with the measurements of the character's face
    3. The left foot is too small!
    4. The blue line looks off ... trees don't glow like that unless you draw it in such a way that it's convincing.

Other than those four I've noted, it could have gotten you in the top 50's best submission. D:

First of all, thanks all for the feedback.

j.s.s sabastian Not sure what you mean, but the arm is supposed to give the character sufficient strength to support it.
Black Spot You're right about the blue. It's maybe a bit too much cyan.
Duman Now that you mention it, I did kinda forget the cast shadow didn't I. I was thinking about a moon in the back but instead opted to put it far to the left off screen as to not give an even blue rim to the character lightingvise.
Quigleyer At some point I was thinking if the arm is too similar to Nightmare's but decided not to change it. The first drafts of the arm weren't supposed to be like that and instead had claws more reminiscient of Wolverine. not quite sure why I changed them.
Pmel Oki Glad you liked it and thanks for pointing out the anatomical flaws. Some of them I had already spotted myself. As for the blue line I was trying to create a sharp highlight that came from an off-screen lightsource, but I quess it ended up popping out too much.

To understand the idea behind the character I thought I'd post this concept sheet that I also made for the comp.
