I happen to like the description of the road to hell in the book "Good Omens." It goes...

And the road to hell is not paved with good intentions as most people say. Instead its paved with the frozen bodies of door to door salesmen, which the younger demons go skating on every now and then.

    Sincerely,
    Chris

Tharmine - I would love to know how you did the tile. The whole piece has great color too! Reminds me of Silent Hill 2.
Here's a quicky while I was waiting for eggrolls. Yum.

    Maybe another one later.

quickie again. or, well... 45 minutes - an hour i think

this topic reminded me of some books by jack l. chalker i read when i was a teenager ("flux and anchor"). this is how i saw the gates to hell described in those books.

oDD: love the amount of detail you manage to convey with very few means. gooDD stuff!

    Great ideas everybody as usual.

TheAvatar. I think it looks great. The atmosphere and colour in your piece makes me sweat just looking at it! Definatly go back over and fill in the details on your hell guardian guy but I ORDER you to leave the rest its ace!

Matt Dixon. Look like the gate to hell is right down the throat of Satan himself! Love the style and the colour.

Enddriver. Watch your step when you go to the Nevada Dessert! Looks like the doors to hell are open.:p

Roger. You havnt ever been to Swansea city have you? Theres a few clubs that look remarkably similar! Its damn freaky.

Jeabus. Great work on the detail of the building, I can just imagine the cold dusty creepy interior.

Plaf. I always new Santa was guarding the gates of hell! Thats what satans never hungry! Santa keeps bringing him the worlds milk and cookies every year.:p

POX. Sooo reminds me of the entrants of the Labyrinth. Just expect David Bowie to be checking names of the list as you enter.

ODD. You dont need any comments you know youve got it lol.

Madgirrafe. ROLF, carnivals and circuses are so creepy im surprised your the only one who had that take on it.

Charge. Freaky! Just freaky. In an extreme Dali way.

AWalloffire. That must be hell for Picasso! "You will spend eternity in a world that brought the world so much joy!" MUAHAHHAHA

Vimmzy. lol! Thats one hot elevator ride!

    Tharmine. JAY AND SILENT BOB!

    Carnifex. Love the lighting!

    Bloody good one today guys!

the gates of hell are not a 1 way street. sin, hate, war and spilled blood come out of it.
(2 am. painting like a mindless chimp, id be glad to refine it some more. not now. ive been painting instead of drawing. feels great)

    Smile I post directly again

A good excuse as any to do a glowing volcano.

Vimmzy: I was going to do something similar, but then I saw yours and thought you pretty much nailed It.
The idea I had was a hell gate that moved regularly and replaced a ordinary doorway anywhere in the world, mimicking It perfectly.

Tharmine: That's how I imagine a gate to hell. Cramped, smelly and always open.
