Really, I have no idea what you`re talking about! I LOVE your older stuff! They have that certain charm to them, especially that girl with black hair/wolf/snakes and the ET. Beautiful!

Your use of tone is beautiful. It really gives your work a sense of volume and solidity.

    Thanks for commenting Rub.

Your character designs are fantastic, and you've got the kind of stroke management that I need to start learning. Too often do I get down to the scratchy little brushes and shit gets messy.

I'd definitely like to see more envrionments from you gogogogooggogog

    More enviroments... noted!

Another speedy, I need to try to define the structures earlier on I kind of get lost in all the shapes and textures...

    Hands etc...

All from Ze Blog. Come say hi.

I used to be a big Hawkprey fan when I started drawing, still am actually. I always tried to do the space marine thing, but I never could do it. I still can't very well, even tough I've gotten significantly better. So I was doodling these characters yesterday. Rendered one of them out.

I deliberatly went for exagerated proportions, hence it looks weird (sorry Espen, plz don't kill me!).
I did tone down the crazyness a bit in the rendered one.

The pose is still a bit broken, left leg is out of perspective a bit too. Bah! Why is it so hard...

    Whoop

This was supposed to be a quick SP, but I worked on it some more. It feels a little skewed to me...

Another stab at an enviroment, this is hard :/

I just wanted to try out a new style.
The idea was to have a high contrast graphic but painterly image.
The character is wonky but I was just trying out techniques randomly.
Not really worth an update but I'm bored so...

um , those last paintings look disproportionate , what happened to them?

They look nice as they are , but if you are trying to achieve a stile that is made for character use , you should try to find some shadow two

Yeah I'm allways playing around with proportions, but if it doesn't work I probably should quit doing it. Thanks for noting.

pretty crazy amount of styles you've got going on.

one thing that might help your concept type work (on the rendered space marine up top, for example) is a really simple trick for instant ambient light. throw a new layer on top, set it to soft light and do a gradient from black to transparent in the direction of the light source (ie: click lower corner opposite of light source, drag to light source). then play with the layer opacity until it looks proper. pretty much never fails to improve the painting significantly

Thanks for the tip! I'll try that out

One seriously annoying thing about me is that I'm like a musician that can't play the same thing more then once. Thus with just about every painting I "invent" some new kind of technique.
In the beginning I was enjoying it, but sooner or later you want to settle down with something that would become you signature style. It's getting really fucking annoying with all these different kinds of looks I'm throwing around.

So please help me out and tell me what you think looks best and why!

    Some unfinished/abandoned stuff

I love your latest updates! I can tell that you have a lot of different influences affecting your work and it's making an interesting style. Keep pushing it and trying new things at the same time. You look like one of those artists that's going to get better at a crazy rate.

Also, make sure to leave the digital alone and bring out some brushes once in awhile!
