Areit, a few pointers you might wanna pick up on, or not, that is entirely up to you First of, use your paintbucket, or gradient tool, and create a simple background, so that your blending of tone does not happen over a white space, as that just makes everything look flat, boring and acrylic. Do more studies, even though the ones you already have are really quite good I love the woman with the black hair and stuff, so keep that stuff flowing. I should also point out that varying up your stuff would make it more interesting

    about your charcoal questions:

It looks like you used vine charcoal on those pieces ( its the skinny, light-weight charcoal). Those are used for either fast gestures or underdrawings for longer figure drawings. They are used for that because it is easily erasable. As for Charcoal in general, it is a fickle mistress. A lot of times, I personally, use the side of a stick to block in mass and planes, then smear into the white areas, then erase highlights and define shadows with the point of the stick. Thats what i do in figure drawing classes, but there are a lot more ways to use charcoal. It just helps to experiment.

I really like your open canvas pieces, keep up the good work

Thanks ppl for your comments and suggestions I really appreciate it.

Mischeviouslittleelf Yes ill do as you suggest, hope soon ill post some paintings Thanks

Equality72521 Well i use charcoal just for line practice. One painter suggested that i draw with them and try to do my "lines" just with one move(drawing curve of the nose or ear in one "stroke" etc.).and to put darker&thicker/lighter&thinner lines depending on the light. I draw on A4 format maybe i should use thinnest charcoal?? Or maybe work on bigger format of paper.
    Thaks for reply

The last figures you posted are awsome. And I think the second attempt at that last face is the best by far.

I love how you use shade with pencil so methodically; the little neat marks that build up the shadows. :]

The second of the faces is definitely my favorite. I'd need to see a photo to know which is the most accurate though (either second or fourth, I'd think).

Great work though, I don't know what you have against your hatching, it looks good to me in most of your pictures. I especially like the sketches in post #5! Keep it up!
