Are those the musicians from the Titanic?
I just saw the movie with Dicaprio a few days ago.
I was crying so hard at the end.
The beer made me so emotional.
You are doing great, all I want
in the future is to see more baby
studies from you.
ooh those fish look niceYou should try to finish off some things too, most things I see here are studies xD

@plissken- I have to admit I just googles for cello players, so dont really know if the're from titanic ^^ haha sounds like you had fun watching that movie!
@sushi- you're right. not sure how to go about it. my imaginary stuff I usually feel like binning if I look at it for more then 20 min. the life is good but my models make a break for it within 2! maybe fotos is a good idea. like the last in this batch.
been neglecting this place. I've drawed some, but not too happy about most. here's a batch anyway.
muscle study. ref in hand
arguing baseball players from imagination.
shoulder from ref
drawing with the 'still' function on my tv.
drawing my baby girl as she explores the house
imagination, fighting perspective..
looking for new ways to express form...
imagination
on the couch..
photo ref, tackeling 3d again.
a comic on how (not) to change our baby
model drawings lesson!
and these are a bit special; I look at the ref, study the proportions and then try to copy. really hard actually!

im trying to do a daily photo study; look at it, put it away, draw blind, compare with original, do a fast draw-over, then redo the blind one. trying to learn to look at the right stuff fast. naming some mistakes here.
tend to get directions wrong; the hand in the air, the waist line. in hanging pants, need to draw the ass line less deep, let the lines off the knee hang lower etc. should not put in neck lines when its not visible.
hips not deep enough, chest area too wide. low angle -> place lips higher, needs more 'neck' area, put in chin.
ears should be turning at the 120 angles now.

Highly sophisticated deeply handgranaded studies.
You have just melted the hot kiss with the sweet dish.
No one can draw babies as you do here. No one.
I can bet on that. A wonderful turbulence you
have created here with your angel like creative wings.
Somewhere in the near future I can feel you becoming
powerful and famous, and you will be changing the world
in a very significant fashion.
aw shucks plisskenyou honor me with your poetry. its totally undeserved of course; I should be working a lot harder for such high praise. and today, I feel like im not improving at all. thats not to say I do not appreciate your kind words ofc!

maybe try to actually fully render one of your drawings? Most of the things I see here are sketches with no shadow... I mean, they are good for practice, but you should practice shading too.

hey sushi. well,I guess that's true.
decided to enter this week's cow, to force myself to finish something. so far, I cannot even decide on the design though.
the subject is the gatekeeper of valhalla.
anyone any thoughs? I wanted a cross between the 8legged horse and a wolf.
and inspiration sheet:

Nice stuff going on here. Can't think of much to add, other than to keep it up. Good luck with the CoW
Aand... Maybe you could make it into a six legged horse with a wolves head, and make the front feet belong to a wolf... Since it's a wolf crossed with a horse an upper body with arms doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Unless, of course it has the upper body of a human and a wolves head ontop...

ye. that would have been better as a cross. but decided to just make it an 8-legged wolf. I gotto finish this tomorrow, but I havent even started on the color composition & background.
uuuh. 8 legs is a LOT!

last change for suggestions :p
Warning, I draw babiez
well, there it is.
could have spend hours more on it, but I guess that's to be expected with only a week to work on this. immensly proud I made something and actually turned it in at all. hell, i think it even stands pretty well amongst those -pretty amazing btw- other entries.
hell it's hardly the best. but it looks like it deserves to be there, you know?

Hey Ashess, its awesome that you completed it in time!
I really like the idea. There are still some problem with perspective and anatomy, but certainly not bad at all!
I'm digging all the studies you are doing. Yet I'm not seeing enough colour studies! They are very important you know!
Your work unfortunately shows that you need to do more of those. So I really hope to see them soon!
Keep up the great work!
It is that huge hairy semi mixed beast, that eats up
chinchillas for Mardi Gras. I saw it right from the corner.
I was a bit scared but now I am not. You performed very
well on this one, you performed fantastic. Your work
is a Crème de la crème, as they would say in Rome.
@ luckers- aint that the truth! I think maybe the perspective issues and possibly even the anatomy I coulda fixed given time. (though the anatomy was a problem as it is a fantasy creature) but color! I think I kinda went 'ohmygodwhatdoIdo', and just hoped to get something half decent by throwing some fancy effects in there. haha@! no, will give color some more study soon.
@plisskin- haha@! chinchillas. rich. thanks man!
my baby girl
and, completely unrelated, some random wreslers.

It's probably one of the oldest drawings you have posted here.. But I think this one shows that you really have talent!
The same for the drawings of the cat on page 10! amazing!
haha thanks man![]()
oh, but that piece is like 15 years old now. I know it's prolly one of my best.. still, that's a bit depressing eh?

Your humans in perspective are starting to look
very interesting and promising, and the little vigorous
monkey is just more than fantastic. He is telling us so
much with his body language and gesture. I just want
to feel more of those perspective drawings from you,
and I would like to see the monkey turning into a mad
ape. No fire can make your quality to expire.
perspectives still seem a bit weird to me. paper ones work better usually. should scan some but it seems my scanner died! cant get it working at least... beh. this one lasted me what 2 years? and the one before that died within a year. maybe im riding them too hard? :p
@plissken- that monkey is a critter isnt he? haha! I salute you my friend. I havent seen much new work of you lately. hope you get some inspiration again soon!
and heres all the stuff I've been up to lately:
---------------------
baby and husband swimming:
my son stuffing his face:
following my daughter through the house with my laptop:
some legs and shoe practice from photo ref.. really wierd shoes!
random horses no ref:

the foto study of my son eating took a while. but yes, most do look a bit rushed. I get what you mean.
wandering about the POW indeed. busy with the cow thing too.. really should give predominance to the pow thing but im learning a lot with this thing right now. see-through, water effects. ice. heh. never did any of that stuff I guess.
and some extremely rushed babies. well, I do sortof have to run after her while doing these
I set myself a bit of a goal list btw. putting it up here:
participate in a COW challange (actually submit artwork before deadline) Vdone!V
participate in a CHOW challange (actually submit artwork before deadline)
participate in an EOW challange (actually submit artwork before deadline)
participate in a POW challange (actually submit artwork before deadline)
participate in a IOW challange (actually submit artwork before deadline)

just maybe a finishing touch tomorrow and it's done. im proud :p

I think it's looking fab and well done on dealing with the transparency. I think the colours make it look good to. Well done you.![]()
thanks Marian!
ah,and I think it's finally done now.
was still quite a few more hours trying to get the ice to work. but, well. it works, I think![]()

Hey ashess, those horse gestures are cool. Very recognizable with very few lines. Nr 6 seems to have been stretched a bit though.
The baby gestures seem like great practise and it's good to see you are taking the time to finish some pieces. About that last sea animal: why is the rib cage so small? It might make more sense if it filled up the space of it's body more (like the bones in the fins do).
I really like the structural approuch from post 489. Might try that myself soon. Have you ever read Michael Hampton's "Figure drawing: Design and invention"? It's by far the best book on figure drawing I have read so far and covers everything from the first 5 min gestures to anatomy and more finished pieces.
Keep em coming and maybe I'll see you at the sketchmeet at bodyworlds.
