    Rem!

Congratulations Ashess! Now you have a model that stays really still all the time too, what with all that sleeping . In all seriousness though, congratz.

I like the self portrait, loose but I get an idea of your likeness. Keep at it with the Bridgman and all... and nice sketches of the father and your son ... I'd say tighten up the linework a bit, but I think I can let it slide considering the conditions .

    Congratulations once again.

thanks Sebbon; wow, finally got an almost full night's sleep ^^
apparently unborn baby's spent their mother's waking hours asleep and play around in the belly while we sleep. After being born, they like to stay with that. in a bet of desperation I spent yesterday trying to keep Rem awake for at least a few hours during day. seems to have worked though; he slept till 6.
I was feeling pretty ok physically already -except a sore back from bending over and picking up the baby all the time. But this really helps.
anyway, a little rest goes a long way in getting back my confidence in my lines. these turned out a lot better- still a little cautious, but better
Seraph, thanks ^^ hope to do more at some point. but the lil'un is a bit preoccupying right now.

thank you ditchman; i was pretty happy with it too.
digital one here; finding out that having a model that wants to sleep on your lap all the time does have its drawbacks- like where do you put your paper/ laptop?

and my excuses for not visiting; especially to my sketchgroup.
I'll try and be there more often now; though I still can hardly find the time to draw, let alone surf. ^^

Hey Ashess, no worries about the sketchgroup thing, it's for the most part kind of fallen apart, everyone is rather busy... Mock got into CA Atelier, I dunno where Fitzin and Buddha Bear went, tobbA posts sometimes too though, as well as Bapsi who got into art center. I've been posting daily though, and I try to keep up with whoever updates their sketchbook.

These are some really nice sketches of your son, nice linework and very cute! I'm sure you've got your hands full taking care of him though, so don't feel bad about not updating or anything.

    Keep it up ashess.

PS: I am sebbonaparte, I changed my name on here.

Nice sketches. And congrats on the little one as well

Crits... Proportions/perspective on the first one in #279 seem a little off. I don't know if it's intentional though. But the figures sizes don't match up I think. The mans lower arm in the second one seems a bit too long as well.

    Otherwise keep it up

1st one is intentionally off; it's more a collage then actually right- figures just didnt fit into my fild of vision so I pasted everyone together at the end.
your right about the arm in the lower though; thanks

You've been doing some really awesome stuff! The most recent lilies are just beee-yooooo-teeful! I especially like the first one. The textures are lovely. What medium(s) did you use? Your drawing accuracy has definitely improved.

Yeah, heavy metal flowers with roaring watercolors!
Seriously I like your use of vibrant colors but I think you should make more use of white in watercolors
-- you know, that trick of leaving some areas for highlights, or pumping the pigment up with the brush.
In your life drawings you're good at capturing expressions even when the line is a bit wonky.
At capturing motion too, gestures. Well, the animator in you pops out!

aah. sorry about that. I sued to type with the little boy in my lap, but that has become impossible these last few days. he's come to like hitting the little buttons too.
anway, I wanted to comment, this was a rather longer piece for once - he slept in that position for over half an nour, so I had time.
also, thanks for the comment, Leo. yeah, I kindof overdid it with the paint and lost my whites. I filled them in with paint, but it got a little messy. I hope to come around whitinging them again now the paint is dry.

hello all well, that's been a while. between Rem, work and the new study I started I hardly have time to draw let alone upload what sorry fragments I do manage to produce.
most of these arent really worth it, but there are some gems in there I think.

Hehe, in a while you'll be able to draw your kid from memory in any position, great training for comic drawing, especially since many people have difficulties drawing believable babies.
The second picture is especially cute and lively

tobba: he is cute. in 3 he wouldnt keep still.. I got so frustrated I decided to draw his face in the 2 positions he passed most often.
So-na: thanks. I dunno about improving I'm just struggling to stay at level until I get some more free time again. hah. and I started a study on the side now too. oh well
Leo: glad to see you're back man! yeah. feels like the only thing I get around to drawing is him. I really dont mind though. time with him is golden. and the days I work are fun too. I guess the only thing that is caught for time is drawing.. got some model done today though. half way I decided to *f* with presicion and just go for a flowing line. some of m turned out ok after that. but ghee I'm wayy outta practice

Hey ashess (i was buddha bear/changed my name after a hiatus). Ill be around again. Sorry for disappearing.

I have been going through your sb. Youve improved since I saw it last. Nice work, especially your water color stuff.

As for the gestures, they look good but you might want to throw down a "center line" or "action line" before going into the masses of the body.

Those model drawings are pretty cool! And the sketches of your son are cute . I think one of your weaker points is line quality though. Keep doing those drawings with that thick marker/pen, and try to focus on your lines. Line quality is a really important thing that I feel like is easy to gloss over, and I know I need to do a lot of work on it myself. Keep drawing and having fun though, go go go .

Agnes, maybe keep your marker touching the paper, don't lift it too often.
Don't worry about wobbling, go slowly. Rince and repeat
