    David

I love this site since a lot of people here are serious and helpful about art and I'm finally feeling brave enough to ask for a critique. Have fun!

the separation of light and shadow is more apparent in the hair than the face, there is no darks at the bottom of the drawing - my eye goes straight to the eyes then the hair and off the page.

Like Rattsang said bring some of those shadows to beneath the chin as well to add some "gravitas". His left sternocleidomastoid seems a little thick compared to the other..maybe put some dark values there also to help define the anatomy. nice work, keep it up!

I too agree with Rattsang. Increase your contrast to bring this image to life.

Alternatively, if your original surface is that cool tone as opposed to a scanner effect, you could draw highlights with white, assuming you want the delicate, narrow range of greys.

Alright, cool, increase contrast. I can see now that it looks flat and the value needs to be more unified. Thanks very much! : )
