Talking kaspers new sketchbook_1st june 09 :::: TODAY

    Hey everybody!

    CHECK THE LAST PAGE

    I'm Kasper, I'm 18 and from Denmark..

I had a sketchbook here about 4 years ago that didn't last very long, because I was probably busy climbing trees and setting girls hair on fire - like every boy at 14. But the spark hasn't died out, actually it has turned into a gigantuan bonfire that burns inside me every day now.. I can't stop drawing, painting and all that and I'm thinking about being a fine artist whenever I grow up.

    On to the real thing...

Yes, yes, I see a lot of potential here
First, I would say, keep an eye on your values.
Keep a value scale in mind every time you shade something. It might even help to draw one (off to the side or something), but make sure you always include at least some areas of very dark black and some areas of very white highlights in your sketches.
Next, keep it up with the anatomy sketches. Posemaniacs you say? Keep doing that, but do some longer studies as well. You might want to try out Loomis or Bridgeman's. I'm working through Loomis right now, but I've also heard Bridgeman's recommended quite often.
Keep it up! And keep feeding the fire!

    Today's stuff:

60 sec poses, reffed animals, Bridgeman studies and reffed people

Kim_bot > Thanks!! You're right about the values, but it's hard for me to get it going when the sketch is crooked/wrong/whatever.. I really enjoyed doing Bridgeman studies today, so I think I'll stick with that.. He's got such a loose and yet strong style.

    I will!

AWWE!! HMMM!! OOOOH!! YYEAA! i love all the pencil sketches. 8) The bird is awesome.
A few tips, work on getting darker values and think about putting in some kind of space tone, that should pull forth the object. For parts farther away, keep them soft and things closer sharp. Ive hope this helps, keep it up your doing great

l0stinth0ughts Thank you! This is excellent advice, but at the moment I'm working mainly on my linework and mass will come later, as well as perspective and foreshortening and the stuff you're talking about. Thanks though!

VanDog Thanks Van! Your new sketchbook is the shit.. New aquarelle pics coming up

Okay anatomy stuff first (longer poses this time), referenced girls from kindgirls, one page of poses, random referenced stuff, an antilope (ref) and four colourworks from my head.

I'm reading Harold Speed at the moment - do you think it's a safe method to practice line-drawing and then mass-drawing afterwards, to sort of mix it up later? I think I'm just going to draw what I see for the moment..

    Thanks for the attention folks!

Hi! Thanks for your comment! Some of your sketches are really interesting, the animals for exemple.
The human figure seems to be a problem tho, work it more!

Your lines are really vaque, is it scanner or just that you draw with too hard pencil or make too light lines?

Nettle_Mountain Well I don't know if it's my scanner, I use a HB mechanic pencil and I'd say that most of my stuff apart from the poses have regular lines.. But thanks! (:
