First up, the new Shards of Alara Magic set released. Lots more to come as the sets come out. Please welcome the Vinerider Babemage. If you mention hentacles, she will strangle you.




This is the cover of this months Dragon Magazine Online, covering the new barbarian class. As if a half-dragon wasn't savage enough, now he's on fire, and burping a dragon face.


A personal commission for an avid L5R player.


Another Magic card, this is a Player Rewards alternate art for "Ponder."


Star Wars! Rohlan Dyre from KotOR. Mandalorians rock.


He's not technically supposed to be Yoda. But I wanted to paint Yoda. Don't you judge me.


I'm not sure why he needs so much clothing. I can't imagine he needs the warmth. But I had a ton of fun with the drapery and the snow on this tyrannical lich overlord.


This was the cover for Dungeon Magazine Online a few months back. "Fire! BAD!"


More from the barbarian article. Nobody here seems too happy right now.


These were alot of fun, because the concept was still being developed. So there was a ton of creative freedom. We all like that.


Whenever I see this one, I can't help but think of what a friend quoted the first time he saw it. "It shoots lightning and shuriken! This could only be cooler if it had tits and was on fire!" (Quote from Yahtzee of the Escapist.)


Also, I've got a small handful of quick time-lapse WIP of some of the above.

This stuff is radical. I don't have a favorite, because they're all so good, but If I were to choose either Rohlan Dyre or the "Ponder" one. Excellent stuff man. Can't wait to see more.

The quality and detail in these pieces is astounding. Really. Fantastic. The only possible problem I see is the mandalorian's right foot seems a little off. Something with the shadow I think. Thats it though. Fantastic job.


And yes, mandalorians do rock. "For Mandalor!"

my favorite has to be the first one, vines are my kind of style

second one is good but his right arm doesnt look like he is actually grabbing the axe. at the position his arm is in you should be able to see some part of his palm/hand behind the axe handle

the axe also isnt going the direction his hand is pointing, outside of his hand is facing away from the viewer but the axe is flat or even the opposite the bottom of the axe should be going away from the viewer

the third one, the light source is coming from on top there should be some shadow on her chest made from her hand? maybe just a little

i have really noticed that your have a lot of layers for bright colors, which is why they look so bright and good, but in your dark colors, there isnt many layers or as much as your bright colors, i think you need to go darker in your darker areas, it will make your brights will come out more and it will make everything look more dimensional, some areas look flat because of that

example would be Mandalorians right leg, and the guy with tattoo's if you darken the back of his head and the drapery, it will come out a lot stronger

Chane: I guess it gets so smooth just by going over it enough. For smooth stuff, I just use a standard round brush in PS, with a little bit of softness. I don't typically use any sort of smudge tools, and when I do it's a rake, to get more texture.

Corspufo: I use a lot of layers as I paint, and the vids are basically layer reveals. I'll export the layers to individual files with a script, then drop them in Premiere, and I'm done. Doesn't really take long, actually.

Next I'm going to try recording a whole painting with Camtasia and a mic. We'll see how that turns out...

Outstanding detail and some of these pieces really feel like I could reach out and grab the character. Wish I knew what you were doing to give it such a 3-dimensional quality. Seems like it's just good lighting and detail, but I've seen plenty of artists with good lighting and detail who make great paintings, but they don't pop like this.

Any theories as to why you're so awesome?

The flaming warrior woman's left leg, in comparison to the bent right, comes off as being rather short. A little extension of the mid-lower leg would fix it.

She's a great design.
