Thanks for kind comments on my book! I am liking what you are up to- the last three look great. try to draw from observation a little more- and study some perspective and construction-its the most useful thing for what you are doing!
    High five!

Nice start to your sketchbook here, As Sirkenneth said, some drawings from observation would be a good way to go, and I would suggest maybe mixing up your media a little? It will give your sketchbook a little more interest

    Keep up the good work

hey Daz great work! there's a *lot* of potential in these. I think as others have said some life drawings would really help, just push yourself that little bit past cartoony to realistic fix up some perspective issues and you'll be out of this world in no time.

following some of the advise given here i decided to copy a photograph of a face (stalins face), i think this could've been a much better pic had i had a heavier pencil.

    Thanks man

Wow, cool. I bet you listen to Tool. Love the symbolism and your attention to accuracy looks like you pull most of your source material from real world stuff: the zodiacs the varying weapons, clothing and armor and judging by you picture of Uncle Joe you've put a bit of time into drawing from references, good show. I really like all the stuff your characters have-- it gives them, not only, purpose but a specific task or mission its quite immersive.

If I were to give any advice I'd say I you should probably try experimenting with your line weight. If you have a Xacto knife you can cut the tip of your pencil to give it a double point or long broad edge and get a very calligraphic mark. If you get a piece of sand paper you can even shape the edge of you pencil more precisely(better than a pencil sharpener any day) and even get a bit of extra graphite dust for smooth shadow transitions. Aside from this, the key to managing your line weight is knowing when to apply pressure and when to lightly hold your pencil/pen. I know you're probably furious at the world but try and ease up your grip and pretend you're drawing on water and when your work calls for an explosion or something that needs some rough treatment give it a little hate. For a good example on line weight check this link out
you're transitions don't have to be as smooth nor should they be, just focus on understanding the relationship between outlines and light for now.

Sorry for being long winded I hope its revealed some secrets to you. Keep it up, your work is very rich and your whatever you’re feeling is showing through, with a little more practice you'll be able to pull of some stunning things.

Thanks again for your help. Hope this has given you some things to think about.

    This is a Bouguereau copy

I havent had any marijuana today, and my pictures are looking much better, so if your an artist and a slave to the green, my advice is; go without, for a while at least.

    wow

Very nice scetches. Perhaps you might consider a job in the service industry where the need for dexterity of hand and finesse is not quite so critical

Lovely studies, something I noticed is you like short arms, maybe try and do a study of arms? Loving the from ref stuff as well, you capture the feeling of an image very well.

studys, learnt a few interesting things with these. Digital cityscapes seem to be all about pulling out lots of digital tricks to help you out, kinda reminds me of how airbrush artists use templates to aid them.

My drawings are all kinda rough in a way and theres still a few foreshortening angles I'm not confident with, i rarely spend more that 2hours on a sketch and spend alot of time doing 2-3minute sketches.

I feel like alot of other artists learn faster than me, being kinda fast paced and messy has made drawing a little difficult to me. I started Practicing regularly about 3-4 years ago, but I'm enjoying and I'm more confident than ever before.

Prior to drawing I used to do alot of photo-manipulation stuff.

    awesome job, daz
it might not be as fun, but do some serious studying of anatomy. bones, muscles, everything. i love your attempts at finished renderings and stuff though

try to do more specified studies, like of certain areas of the body.

good luck and keep up the good work!
